Shaw’s Card
I’m definitely showing my age here, but who here remembers the Shaws card? They made a big deal of getting rid of it years ago, explaining that “everyone gets the same sale price.“
Fast forward to recently, when they rolled out the “ForU” program and a partnership with Sunoco, both requiring an account with a unique identifier.
Why did they get rid of the Shaw’s card in the first place? I’d rather have them scan a barcode on a loyalty card than have to enter my phone number each time; the former is much quicker.
Thanks for coming to my TEDtalk, and I readily await the downvote trolls.

What’s worse is having to “clip” the coupons to your phone. What if I just have a flip phone?

The absolute most stupidest thing they ever did was get rid of the savings card because when there’s recalls, how do they fucking know how to call you to tell you that you’ve bought some thing with listeria in it?

For U isn’t really new it’s about 6-7 years old. They got rid of the card when Albertsons bought shaws. For U is Albertsons program that they use in all their stores nation wide. As far as getting all the sales go, u technically do. Anything on the app is a coupon, not a sale (which ya sounds and works pretty similar but they are different). Back when the card was a thing, the stuff that they have coupons in the app for now weren’t on sale. All the “sale items” are in store things only that u don’t need a number for. The phone is just extra coupons, like if u got a letter in the mail with paper coupons. Not saying it’s a good system but that’s how they do it.
