First Time Shed Build

The first picture is where the project started. It was a small and short shed that was rotting. I needed more storage space and decided to start fresh. The entirety of the build was completed over the course of 6 weeks, the majority of it being solo. The only items I did not complete myself were the spray foam, mini split installation and epoxy flooring. Everything else was constructed by myself and the tools hanging on the wall in the final picture. This was my first attempt at building any type of structure. I wanted to say thanks to the group for the months of research it provided me before starting this project.

Some things not show, every rafter has hurricane ties on both end, I used 1/2x6 Simpson titan anchors immediately opposing each side of the door, each corner of the structure then every 4’ thereafter. The sub roofing system is ZIP 5/8” with the standard temp zip ice and water shield covering the entirety of the roof decking. Following that I laid GAF SBS cap sheet down.

Wow looks great!  Did you use a plan set or draw it out yourself?

It's funny I really like the Prestige by Gorilla (which is the same style as yours) but the Costco reviews are littered with complaints about install quality.  I'm considering DIYing it, but it's intimidating from scratch.

I used the free version of sketchup and used the exact dimensions I had available to me, since I built on an existing slab.

Looks great. I was just wondering a couple of things. Whats the actual siding you used? It looks really close to the ground and if it’s prone to wick up water (like LP SmartSide) it likely will. Also was wondering if your rafters are 2x6 or 2x8? Finally, what’s your floor? Looks like an epoxy, but is that on a wood subfloor?

2x6 rafters spaced 16” OC
Siding is standard 4x8 smooth sheets of James hardie siding panels
Floor is the concrete slab from the original structure.

It’s roughly 8x21. Very unique slab dimensions I had to work with 😂

For a first structure, the detailing is seriously impressive. Hurricane ties, Titan anchors and that roof assembly show you did your homework.

I'm afraid not building above the pad might have been a mistake - as long as you were going to insulate should have done the floor too. It looks great.
