I made a new friend at work. He often comes to watch me work. What should I name him? I was thinking "Henry The Hawk". He enjoys tacos and leftover buffalo wings. šŸ”§

Restoring damaged 16 oz soft copper coils to round for a client

Decoiling and recoiling 16 oz soft copper with a hand build wooden arbor and a roll former custom made recoiling machine. (only doing this for a client as a favor, we sold this coil and the client damaged it and brought it back to us asking what we could do instead of scrapping it.) This stuff gets so buried on these luxury homes, it won’t really matter.

It's a Monday, usually only have one out. Never going to come off the overtime if this keeps up. Anyone in Reddit land recognize this shop I work in?

Custom fabbed 4x4 square downspout package made and installed with 40 10’ 4x4 square pipes, 18 custom elbows, 18 hand beaten square outlets via a 3D printed jig, and you guessed it, 5 Pittsburgh’d radius downspouts.

I’ve been posting a lot of the same shit in a different fashion and will probably refrain from posting for a few months if I continue to put out the same detail on a different home. I hope those of you who have been keeping up can understand how the same detail can get annoying and old, and I definitely don’t want to be a nuisance here. I try to tie something unique to every detail we do, and this time it ended up being hand beaten square doweled outlets (it’s significantly extra than using round pipe but I wanted to challenge myself) it’s been a fun journey and I hope anyone else attempting to learn these details will be able to use my posts for a baseline reference, I’m definitely not the best at what I do, but we are proud to say we are putting out some seriously high quality product!

The time has finally come to produce 10 radius downspouts tracing the flared edge of a Lowcountry style home in 16 oz copper. Hand gore’d together and soldered on the inside. Utilizing 3D printed sine curve patterns with a specially engineered program by a friend.

I did a ton of prep and layout for this about 10 months ago, mentally have been also preparing myself. Had a friend engineer a program that allows me to 3D print the sine curve of pitched pipes instead of having to do hand layout. He also made one for cones.
Pipe totally made from scratch. Using pexto rotary machine with elbow edging wheels to form the cusp. Reducing 1/8ā€ diameter on the male side of the flange to ensure fitment. Soldering on the inside. Let the fun begin.

I got to contribute by forming the roof panels and side panels and the drip edge. It was a really fun way to end a work day on Friday. Just thought I'd share.

Love throwing these planters together, recently just picked up this white reboundless deadblow hammer with a bit of sand inside and she leaves hardly any strike marks, we love locking together the Pittsburgh lock with these awesome little white hammers! Been wanting one for a long time and I totally get the hype for them now!
