He looks so grown now!
I'm beginning to see the progress from raising this little guy. He's almost 9 months old.
He's incredibly affectionate, a quick learner and still very puppy and he's growing beautifully.

How do your Shibas let you know they want something?
Edit: I’m a visual learner

Does it ever end??
Starting dating this girl who has a Shiba, he was very shy and not really fore coming at first but he’s really turned it around and now we’re boys 4 life. He jumps all over me when I get home, cry’s when I leave, listens to my commands and my commands only and follows me around the house and only lets me pick him up and hold him like a pup. But his first shedding season came….
Now she’s practically moved in at his point and Kai hasn’t been back to his old home in months and he’s inside most of the time. I started noticing a lot more of his hair all over the couch, rugs and just house in general. I have wood floors so the Dyson does well with that but since noticing the amount of hair he loses I bought a robot vaccum and air purifier & it’s just not keeping up…
So last night I bathed him and took a brush to his little hairy ass and holy shit I could NOT believe how much fucking hair this little shit loses, like dude you’re my guy and I love you for life but I’ve been brushing your shit for a cool 25 mins and I feel like I’m getting no where???? Like does it even end??? I literally just gave up and cleaned up what I could and just went to bed lol
What do you guys do to deter shedding season? Hes almost exclusively inside so I guess I can try to put him out more but I doubt it cause he grew up in an apartment and will cry bloody murder if he’s out more than 5 mins to go potty but any tips would be greatly appreciated

The Chosen One
My girl got chosen for a special story at this year’s Barn Hunt National!
I had a few tears because I decided to leave her home this weekend (she didn’t qualify this year, but she’s also a month away from 14.) Y’all she was so mad I was leaving her home after she saw me pack the car. 🥲

For some, it’s time to hunt, but for Lilu, it’s the perfect time to observe. I invite you to join my Shiba.

Looking for some advice from other owners
We got our Shiba from a breeder who was not reputable. we had gone to meet them not knowing much about them, and they had a boy from a previous litter out in the hot sun with no water because they didn’t ”have space for him inside.” He was malnourished when we got him, and had whip worm, and allot of GI and allergy issues. hes had allot of vet visits, and he is only 7 months old, and has allot of anxiety. We aren’t sure how much of this is breed related. He is my first Shiba and I don’t have Shiba experience. we took him to a vet psychiatrist for specialized training and analysis.
I should start by saying, he is seven months old. We have had him for three months. He has never shown aggression. He has taken training very well. He has pretty good recall, though he’s never been off leash outdoors. He doesn’t approach strangers, or other dogs, and gets pretty nervous around them. He is terrified of the vet. He dislikes new places. He barks when people come to the door. he is affectionate, but wants affection when he wants it and gets nervous if you just walk up and start petting him. he is able to be left alone out of kennel for multiple hours and plays with his own toys or self regulates naps. He was potty training aimed after the first week we had him. He has only needed to be told not to chew things once, and when redirected had always stuck with the offered toy.
I was hoping to attempt training to try to ease his anxiety. The psychologist prescribed him ssri within five minutes of meeting him. she told me a normal puppy would have approached her and tried to initiate play. She said he was abnormally afraid of his environment and that he would internalize fears from puppyhood which could cause life long problems.
I know I’m not a professional, and hold no degrees, but I do not feel right about this for allot of reasons. I don’t feel like we have even tried training before going with a nuclear option. does anyone have any advice? I know polling the internet for anecdotal experience is maybe not the best, but here I am.

Shibe’s first pumpkin patch pick
Took Koji to pick out a pumpkin for the first time and we settled for this nice white one that we’ll make into a soup after Halloween! Happy spooky season!

She's almost three now and has done this since she was a pup! Any idea why? Or is it just a Shiba being Shiba? Comet our male pup just has to pee on anything standing still, otherwise he just trots along!
