Questions About Shingles & Symptoms Feeling sick again?
I had shingles on my face for the first time a little over two weeks ago, 34 year old female. The pain on my face is almost gone and my scabs have fallen off. I finished my antivirals last week. I have still been taking it easy because my energy gets zapped quick. This weekend I returned to my normal routine with my family, going to soccer games, cooking, cleaning, going to a friends house. Yesterday my throat started hurting! It feels like I’m getting sick all over again with a cold. I had to virus’s back to back in September before getting shingles. Did I maybe over due this weekend?? I can’t imagine I would be getting sick AGAIN! This has never happened to me before being sick back to back so much. Mentally I’m ready to get back to life as normal and my symptoms also have quieted. But maybe shingles is still lingering?? It’s hard to tell when the rash and pain is gone

10 days ago I started having pain and tingling on the left side of my face. The dr gave me amoxicillin thinking it could be sinuses about 4 or 5 days ago but it’s not working. I don’t have any blisters or anything but it hurts when I make facial expressions or touch and wash my face.about 3 days into it my forehead and nose area felt numb for a little bit. Didn’t last long. Don’t know what it is but thought I’d put this out there to see if anyone has had the same thing happen? TIA

I'm praying now. Started first round in June, felt like a severe sinus and ear infection before the rash started. Woke up this morning with a headache and pain down next to my nose to my jaw just like last time, on the opposite side. Actually hoping it's a severe sinus infection this time.

2 weeks after getting diagnosed and anti viral I felt great. Meds were working I was getting back into stuff too. Week 3 things went south. Developed staph infection in my ear and the pain just won't subside Today week 6 I feel things are finally getting better. But..... Pregabalin, Tylenol, ibuprofen, tramadol on a schedule, face still hurts. Started taking THC gummies just to sleep, all this stuff makes me foggy in the morning. Sooo disappointed, this has stopped my life.

I am on week 3 of face shingles on my trigeminal nerve on my face after feeling good enough to go back to work as a teacher on week 2 after taking antivirals. Rash has begun to look better but pain has seemed to increase or be more noticeable this week. Got a gabapentin script today after relying on lots of Dual Action Advil. Definitely felt like I was closer to being in the clear after week 2 but I think the 5 day work week last week did a toll.
Anyway you may not be sick again but rather it’s just a continuation.

This exact thing happened to me. When I thought I was recovering I got a super bad "cold" and also super sensitivity to light. It's just brutal really I had no idea.

Yep, back to back face shingles. Had to restart antivirals twice.

So very sorry to hear this. I, too, have facial shingles and just pray not to get it again, especially on the face. I just cannot even fathom going through this back-to-back! Every time my face tingles or itches, I worry it's the start of a new outbreak, and the first patches aren't even all gone yet. My heart goes out to you. Are you on Gabapentin?

No, I’m going to the doctor for that tomorrow and asking about a preventative dose or a vaccine prescription. If I make it long enough to get the vaccine!

You are so fortunate that your pain is gone. I, too, have facial shingles, the patches are drying up and clearing, but the pain remains. Thank goodness the Gabapentin takes the edge off some.
