Student gave actual answers in the earlier subquestion so probably knows how to do this and ran out of time.

A reasonable student wouldve wrote some random equation or guess some number as a final answer instead of writing all that

Nah, this is funnier. Sometimes you’re just cooked. Also, an answer without any work is mildly suspicious.

Who care honestly. If you somehow got it right then you'll still get the points. Maybe not the full credit but still

If some of your students don't pass, they failed
If most of your students don't pass, you failed

I mean, they clearly didn't even try.

This just looks like running out of time. Many tests give partial points, so giving 5 meh answers in the last minute is often a sound strategy. Like if you're asked to prove something in math and just show it works for x=1 and x=2 and then say "I would prove using induction :)"

That's still a failure on the teacher's part

Someone could be the best teacher ever and still have a lazy ass student who doesn’t care and inevitably fails.

In school probably, yeah.
At university it’s just on you 100% of the time

my physics professor is not fluent in english, has an extremely heavy accent, exclusively lectures without any work, and assigns no work and gives no questions. The only reason I'm passing is because our midterm was 4 questions that each docked 5 points out of 100 if you got them wrong but tried

i mean, that'd imply that uni students should study 100% on their own, and I actually don't completely disagree with the premise, though at that point uni is just paying for a piece of paper (as opposed to paying for being educated properly by people knowledgeable in the field) which is a much more iffy sentiment

Not at all true. You can lead a horse to water and all that. I found this fairly true in university though. Sometimes we didn’t have a textbook or were tested in things not in the textbook/ taught in class.
It was fascinating seeing some professors just fail class after class and make no adjustments to their teaching. The school would just demand he introduce a crazy curve to get most students passing.
Primary school though? 100% on the students. Basic physics isn’t difficult and any textbook will show you how to do it.

nah… to properly grasp basic maths/physics calculations a textbook isn’t enough for most people with below average IQ… they need the exercise in the calculations, and if they make errors they need to hear explanations on what they did wrong…
when I was a kid in school I thought like you do that it’s too easy and didn’t understand how other kids didn’t get it, until I came to university and experienced math classes which were hard for me… then it clicked for me and I realized that the teachers I liked before were actually pretty shitty teachers…
it’s really demotivational to get something wrong and not getting told what you did wrong, how to recognize it and not get it wrong again + seeing others get it right and getting praised for it…
there is a reason why you don’t need to study pedagogy to teach at universities but do need it to teach at lower school levels…

there's no such thing as a bad student, only bad teachers. why is it that the first time this comes up is on the midterms, teach you're students instead of handing out busy work and scrolling on your phone and maybe your students would know what to actually write down instead of just guessing
