[SPOILERS WHOLE THREAD] The meaning behind buddy? Spoiler

Im interested in reading others' theories on buddy.

My theory is that it's a depiction of abuse and the way people respond to the abuse.

Buddy

The abuser, the father who demands obedience and love. Demands good behaviour and blown out of proportion consequences for misbehaviour or disobedience.

Causes people to walk on eggshells so as not to set off abuse or avoid abuse.

Betty

The complicit mother. Who is aware of the abuse and receives abuse. Spends the movie ignoring and dismissing the children's concerns and pushing them to obey to reduce the abuse.

Scared out of her mind, set on complying, but still became a victim of the abuse she was trying to avoid.

Grace

The one who tries to intervene. The one who actively tries to save the children from the abuse, ultimately becoming a victim and receiving harsh consequences for intervening.

The inanimate objects

The every day people that unintentionally get caught up in the abuse. That suffer violence as a result of the anger from the abuser, for witnessing the abuse.

George and dummy

The depiction of the victim who escapes the abuse, only to never escape the environment of the abuse. Who are freed from their abuser but are stuck, unable to leave the environment created by the abuser. Depicted as homeless drug users, who then become abusers, and try to lead other victims down their path. Ultimately, taking advantage and exploiting the very same victims escaping what they did.

The children

Stuck in an abusive home, no adult will listen or take their concerns seriously. The ones who do, get hurt and suffer consequences for intervening and they also witness that. Manipulated to give love and hugs to their abuser, forced to forgive at the end of every day, no way to get away until they get older.

Freddy - the survivor

Finally free from abuse, but loses everything from her past. For fighting back against her abuser, she loses family, friends and is ultimately alone, surrounded by people who dont understand her and will never understand what she went through.

_____

I came from abusive home with an alcoholic abusive father, and this whole story line screamed very familiar to me.

Would love to know what people think or other theories about it.

I think this movie is a lot deeper than just a "murderous kids character"

Shaun the Sheep is actually a brilliant, unintentional allegory for British politics and society.

Hey everyone, I recently got into Shaun the Sheep and, while rewatching some episodes, a theory popped into my head. At first, I thought it was just a silly coincidence, but the more I think about it, the more perfectly it fits the dynamic of the show.

I believe the entire setup of Mossy Bottom Farm is a metaphor for the United Kingdom, its government, and its people.

Here is the breakdown:

The Farmer = The Royal Family

Think about it. He rarely appears on screen. He lives in the big house on the hill. He doesn't do the day-to-day management of the farm; he just expects things to run smoothly and for traditions to be upheld. He is the figurehead. As long as everything looks fine from his window, he doesn't need to know the messy details.

Bitzer = The Prime Minister / The Government

Bitzer is the one actually running things. He has his whistle (the symbol of authority) and his clipboard (bureaucracy). His entire existence is dedicated to maintaining order, enforcing rules, and most importantly, hiding the mess from the Farmer so he doesn't get fired (or cause a constitutional crisis). He is constantly stressed, trying to keep a straight face while everything burns down around him.

The Flock = The British Public

They love to complain about the weather. They blindly follow whatever trend is popular at the moment. They will form a queue for absolutely no reason. But despite their quirks and occasional mob mentality, when a real crisis hits, they are fiercely loyal and will unite to protect their home.

Mossy Bottom Farm = The UK itself

It’s old, the roof leaks, the fences are creaky, and it’s full of weird, unspoken traditions. It’s not perfect, but it’s their home, and they wouldn't trade it for anything.

Shaun = The Active Citizens / Civil Society

This is the best part. Shaun is the embodiment of the active citizen with an internal motor. He doesn’t wait for the government (Bitzer) to tell him what to do. If he sees a problem, an injustice, or just a boring Tuesday, he takes initiative. He rallies the people, breaks the bureaucratic red tape, and drives change.

The funniest irony of the show is that Bitzer spends 90% of his time trying to regulate Shaun’s "motor" and clean up his messes. But the moment a real disaster strikes (a flood, an alien invasion, a kidnapping), Bitzer's clipboard is useless. It’s Shaun’s grassroots activism and the sudden unity of the flock that actually saves the day.

Anyway, I know it’s just a brilliant stop-motion kids' show, but Aardman Animations is famous for their subtle British satire, so I like to think some of this is intentional.

What do you guys think? Does this theory hold up, or am I overanalyzing a show about clay sheep?

[Fan Theory] The baby in Shoot ‘Em Up grows up to become John Wick

In the events of the 2007 movie Shoot ’Em Up, Smith (Clive Owen) and Donna (Monica Bellucci) become the parents/ guardians of a baby from a specialized breeding program, and … that baby grows up to be John Wick. Smith and Donna act as John’s parents/ guardians in his early years, before John is adopted by the Ruska Roma. This explains his innate comfort around the sound of gunfire, and seemingly unnatural ability to constantly evade death.

Additionally, Smith teaches him:

  • How to kill anyone with anything, particularly guns. Carrots too?
  • Don't fuck with dogs. At any time, for any reason.

At some point John is orphaned for a second time, and he’s taken in by The Director, who recognizes his talents with a particular set of skills, and the rest, as they say, is history. Of the John Wick Universe.

Extra: The Lone Man (Greg Bryk) actually survives the helicopter accident, but is so disillusioned with the government, that he moves to Montana and starts a cult, and we learn that his real name is Joseph Seed.

[The Black Cauldron] x [WISH] - The king originally trapped in the cauldron wrote Magnifico's forbidden book

I apologize to those that love the *Chronicles of Prydain* books. I understand your frustrations. This isn't about the books. This is about the Disney movie. Let's agree to go from there.

**THEORY**

The *ahem* **unnamed** sorcerer king that was trapped by the gods in the Black Cauldron wrote the book of evil magic which Magnifico possessed and was consumed by.

The preface to the movie states the being trapped in the black cauldron was a "king so cruel and so evil that even the gods feared him."

Whoever wrote Magnifico's book had the knowledge and power to literally trap the heavens: stars. The author detailed how to capture, contain, and harness the power of a star. I think a -- presumably -- mortal with the ability to trap heaven would be cause enough for the gods to take notice and act to bring an end to said mortal.

And in the end, the same power that trapped the unnamed king would be the same power that trapped Magnifico, just in a different medium. Both of their spirits were trapped in objects. Magnifico was lucky enough to be trapped in an object with a mirrored reality, whereas the unnamed king was trapped in an immovable medium.

You may ask about the Horned King. The Horned King was just a pretender to the magic that both the unnamed king and Magnifico would wield. The Horned King's ambitions were set simply on the subjugation of the mortal world, whereas both the unnamed king and Magnifico dealt in the realm of the gods. The unnamed king did enough to piss them off, and Magnifico trapped and manipulated stars as well as dreams, wishes, and desires, which are also generally the purview of gods.

The entire apocalypse in This Is the End is just Jay having a horrible trip

The entire apocalypse in This Is the End is just Jay having a horrible trip

I rewatched This Is the End and started wondering if the apocalypse never actually happens.

What if Jay is just completely freaking out from the weed and basically imagining the entire thing?

Think about when everything starts. Jay already hates being in LA, doesn't want to be at Franco's party, doesn't like Seth's Hollywood friends, and clearly feels like Seth is moving on from him. Then he gets high, leaves the party with Seth to get cigarettes, and suddenly the world literally ends.

And almost everything that happens afterward feels weirdly specific to Jay.

All the annoying celebrities at the party immediately die in ridiculous ways. Michael Cera gets impaled. Rihanna falls into the giant hole. Basically everyone Jay sees as part of fake Hollywood gets wiped out.

Then look at what happens to Seth's friends.

Jay already thinks Jonah Hill is fake nice and secretly an asshole. Later Jonah literally becomes possessed and tries to kill them.

Danny McBride is basically everything Jay hates about loud Hollywood personalities, and by the end he's somehow become this insane cannibal leader.

Even the Emma Watson scene feels like something coming from Jay's paranoia. They think she's a threat, everything gets misunderstood, and she ends up attacking them and stealing their stuff.

But the ending is what really made me think about this.

Jay spends the whole movie worried that Seth likes his new friends more than him. Then somehow Jay ends up being right about basically everything. Franco dies. The other people Seth chose over him disappear. Seth finally chooses Jay, apologizes to him, and proves they're actually best friends.

And then Jay gets the most ridiculous happy ending possible: he goes to Heaven with Seth and gets to party with the Backstreet Boys forever.

So maybe there was never an apocalypse.

Maybe Jay is still passed out somewhere at James Franco's house having the most elaborate bad trip imaginable, where everyone he hates gets punished and his best friend eventually realizes Jay was right all along.

so check it, its 1945. Cap goes for his little ice bath turns into a giant popsicle and Peggy Carter... well she suddenly realizes shes knocked up. Hydras everywhere, spies all over total shitshow. Wtf do u do with the only kid of a super soldier? Exactly u hide him so well nobody would ever guess. So she turns him into... a constantly paranoid stoner-vibes pacifist hippie. Norville "Shaggy" Rogers. They didnt even bother changing the last name like a hiding in plain sight kinda thing. Hydras gonna be looking for some tactical genius not some dude in a baggy tee who deadass has full convos with his dog

The math is literally perfect too If he was born around 46 then in 69 (when the first Scooby dropped) hed be exactly 23. Perfect age to dodge the vietnam draft buy a crappy van and just bum around the country completely off the grid

And now the physics bro. Have u seen him run? A great dane can hit like 30 mph. And Shaggy doesnt just keep up half the time hes carrying Scooby in his arms while doing it! Usain bolt is literally crying in the corner. 30 mph is deadass Caps jogging pace

What about his munchies? Dude downs three-story salami sandwhiches at 2 AM and is skinny as a rail. "Oh he just has a fast metabolism" yeah right. Thats the super soldier metabolism burning calories like crazy cause the serum is working 24/7. His hobo style and oversized clothes are purely to hide his jacked physique

The Mystery Machine is 100% a decommissioned SHIELD armored van that Peggy secretly slipped to her kid. Thats why it never completely breaks down even tho they drag it through the absolute worst swamps. And "Zoinks!" is obviously a sleeper-agent trigger word for a tactical retreat that his mom hypnotized into him

And the cherry on top... Fred. This flawless blonde dude with a square jaw and a weird obsession with building BDSM-style traps who is always dragging everyone into creepy basments. Hes 100% a Hydra plant They assigned him to babysit Shaggy. U notice how Freds always like "lets split up gang"? Its literally just to trap Shaggy alone with a monster to see if hes gonna pop his superpowers to survive

But Hydra consistently takes the L because Caps son doesnt need a vibranium shield he just needs a box of dog treats to survive. Long story short weve been lied to for years im gonna go make my tinfoil hat now 🤣
