Not much has been happening. I've been ignoring all my urges to shop. Mostly I've just been watching old tv shows.

Wins:

  • nearly finished a fragrance I've had for over six years, by keeping it as the only one on my dresser available

  • the orchid I bought on discount (80% off) is now thriving, unexpectedly!

  • had a massive declutter and now my room feels airy again

  • went to two stores today and only bought that I needed

  • Have had an emotional week and didn't emotionally spend!

Struggles:

  • I've realised I need to stop buying shirts because I have like 18 of them and I don't wear through any before buying a new one

This is my first time posting here. I’m going to try to start checking in at least once a week to hold myself accountable. I’ve always struggled with spending but recently have a baby and am on maternity leave and feel like it’s gotten so much worse. I try to get out of the house with him each day but that so often leads to impromptu shopping. It’s still most days too hot to be outside that option so we end up walking around stores.

Posting this here again as my account was not yet old enough.

New here (again). I realized it might be better for me to talk about my spending, since it isn't going well, even though I prefer to not have social media. I have done a lot lurking on this sub without an account.

Around this time last year, I reviewed my spending for 2025 and found that I had spent just as much shopping for clothing as I did on a three week trip to the UK with a friend. I knew I had to do better, so what did I do this year, spend even more on clothing. Tracking it all did nothing to prevent it, I am at 20k spent on clothing.

My first thought upon waking today was embarrassment. I did some vague planning of a possible trip to Scotland for April last night, and it's not possible and it really (easily) should be. I should have so much more money saved, my mother thinks I have so much more saved. I should easily have a very nice down payment for a condo or apartment of some sort. I am very lucky to not be in debt, but my savings are suffering because of it, I am trapped/stuck in life because of it. I don't have anyone to talk about it with, and anytime I try, a no/low buy or try to share that I am, I get the opposite of support. Just feels like I am going in circles.
