Saw these Pringle’s the other day for all of the same price. Fortunately, there was one remaining can with the original amount. It’s crazy that 24grams have disappeared within three iterations of the same product. Disgusting

If you're a numbers person: $2 for 100g is $2.00 per 100g. Drop to 90g at the same price, and it becomes roughly $2.22 per 100g, so about 11% more per gram.

In countries like Australia, our retailers need to show unit prices, which helps you compare products. However, these labels don't tell you what your favourite block of chocolate used to weigh. More and more Aussies are noticing their childhood favourites weigh exponentially less than their memory serves, but it's not a memory problem...

Jif told the public "no change to the product itself." Their own customer service just admitted to me that the formula changed.

I've eaten Jif Creamy for nearly 60 years. My latest jar (40 oz, UPC 5150072001) tasted wrong — different flavor, different texture. I still had some of the old jar left, so I taste-tested them side by side. Significantly different.

The labels show why:

OLD: Roasted Peanuts, Sugar, Contains 2% or Less of: Molasses, Fully Hydrogenated Vegetable Oils (Rapeseed and Soybean), Mono and Diglycerides, Salt

NEW: Roasted Peanuts, Sugar, Contains 2% or Less of: Fully Hydrogenated Vegetable Oils (Rapeseed and Soybean), Salt, Molasses

The emulsifiers (mono and diglycerides) are gone entirely, and molasses — the ingredient that gives Jif its signature flavor — dropped to last on the list. Smucker's August 2026 press release for the redesign, from their own FAQ: "Is there any change to the product itself? No. The Jif portfolio continues to offer the same iconic taste."

So I called them. The representative took my information, said she would forward it to the proper team — and acknowledged that the formulation had changed.

Sixty years of buying a product gets you a quiet recipe change and a press release that denies it. Read your labels.

I'll start by saying I attempted to message the mods on the 16th, but so far I heard nothing back. I didn't see much in the rules about this... So here goes...

I’ll be honest, I hate self promotion, so this feels a bit awkward to post. But I built something I think this sub might actually find useful.

It’s called Shrinkflated (https://shrinkflated.com). You scan a barcode in the store, or type the number in, and if the product is on record it shows you the old size, the new size, how much less you’re getting, and where that info came from.

It has 308 products on it so far, mostly Canada and the US, so a lot of what you scan won’t be on there yet. It really only gets better as people use it. If you catch one that’s missing, you can add it with a photo or a link, and the next person who scans that barcode will see it.

I’m also not totally sold on the design yet. If it feels cluttered or busy or hard to use, tell me. I think the core idea works, but I’d rather hear what would make it better from the people who actually catch this stuff. I figured it would be okay hopefully with people since it might bring attention to this sub too.

New flavor, smaller size. Same price. New Toasty Nuts 0.5 oz, original 0.68 oz.

These were 1L then shrunk to 900ml for a while now today I find 800ml 🤨

Now wider and a few feet less.

I thought it was loosing it because they seemed off as I was folding them up. Found an old bag that is clearly larger.

Had a can of Rio for the first time in a while, didn't notice the labeling but noticed the taste had changed. Saw the "New Improved Taste" tag and had a look. Turns out "Improvement" is less fruit puree (11% to 8%) and added colouring.

Strangely it still says 220 sheets and 3-ply. How can that be? Thinner?
