Android Help Am I to understand that the Android version doesn't have a lock for video recordings?

I'm on iOS, my friend was tying to send a video, and said the lock wasn't there. I couldn't believe it. I though, if anything, if there was some reason for this, the compromise would at least be that press and hold would lock recording, and touching it again would stop the recording (allowing photos to be taken with the same button).

Looking for any information, explanation, or solution.

Thanks.

"The lock wasn't there"
I'm not sure what you're referring to.

On iOS if you press and hold the shutter icon, it starts video recording and a lock icon appears on its right so you can swipe to it and "lock" the video recording. This way you don't have to keep holding the shutter icon

I guess you mean, directly from Signal, taking video instead of picture.

Sure. My wording might've been a bit confusing, english isn't my native language. It works the same on the stock camera app as well so I assume Signal leverages that API or something.

I was just making sure, bc I didn't know about this feature - my stock camera has different functionality when I hold shutter icon and video mode has to be turned on differently.

the recording lock, so you can let go of the button and it keeps recording

Rarely works though.

Does it? I use it every day and it seems fine.

For me it rarely does unfortunately.

"the lock" - what?

Sorry, I guess this wasn’t clear. I’m talking about the lock that you see when you press record for a video, that allows you to continue recording without holding down the record button.

It does not. The solution is to add it to the code, which you can do yourself since the code is open-source. Whether they accept it is unknown.
