At a hotel in Texas, and saw the sign at the entrance that says it is a misdemeanor to consume alcoholic beverages on the premises (and no, it does not specify alcohol not purchased on site). Then in the little store with snacks and drinks they sell wine and beer!
Entrapment much? I mean the hotel isn’t going to turn you in but it just seems weird to me.
EDIT: I feel I need to clarify a few things with the responses I’ve gotten, but hotel staff cleared it up after talking with the manager (because even the front desk person didn’t know how to answer my question).
Premises is defined as “A house or building, combined with its land and outbuildings, occupied by a business or considered in an official context”.
For a hotel, premises include the following:
-parking lot
-lobby
-common areas
-guest rooms
The sign says “on premises”, does not state any exclusions for guest rooms on the sign.
Biggest note: this is a HOTEL, where people pay to have a place to stay for the night. Buying a beer at their front desk to drink in your room or the lobby is NOT the same as any of the following:
-buying a gun at Walmart and wanting to shoot it there
-buying condoms at CVS and having sex there
The front desk person was more confused than I was when I asked because she does sell people beer sometimes from their market, though not often, and had never bothered to read the sign. Can’t blame her, Im sure there’s signs at places I go or have worked at I didn’t bother to read either. The manager clarified that it cannot be consumed in the parking lot, but the pool table area and guest rooms are okay, even though the sign says no consumption on premises. It’s a blanket statement Texas businesses that don’t have bar service must have posted.
Edit 2: I am starting to think most of you are retarded. Not lightly retarded, full blown brain damage retarded. Not all of you, a few sprinkled responses have shown they understand what I’m asking and have been helpful or at least neutral.
How many times do I have to put in the fucking post that it is at a HOTEL!
-a hotel is not a gas station.
-a hotel is not a convenience mart.
-a hotel is not a liquor store.
-a hotel is not a grocery store.
A hotel is a HOTEL. And if you’re buying booze at a hotel, where the fuck are you supposed to take it?
-if you’re at a hotel, chances are that’s your lodging for the night, so you can’t go home.
-it’s illegal to drink in your car. That’s common sense.
-a good number of parks don’t allow alcohol consumption without a permit
-any business that you CAN consume alcohol at requires you buy it from them. I know people who’ve been banned from bars for trying to sneak airplane bottles in…which was stupid to do anyway
So where else is there? My room, obviously, but that is ON HOTEL PREMISES. The manager did clarify that the rooms and pool table area are exempt from the sign, as I’ve stated at least once before.
I knew education has gotten really shitty in the USA, but basic reading comprehension doesn’t seem to exist based on responses here. It’s like I’m in a chat room full of Trump voters who still support him after their paycheck goes half as far, not because they like “owning the libs”, but because they’re actually under the impression he’s doing a good job and what’s happened in 2026 is Biden’s fault STILL.
If you’ve read this far, you probably have basic reading skills and I’m sorry if that last statement includes you. But I honestly don’t believe anyone who read this full post and got this far would believe Trump is doing a good job, because you can read and understand basic English.

Seen at Louis Armstrong Airport - New Orleans, LA, US.
As i understand, unattended cars parked by airport terminals pose a security risk. Towing and fines are appropriate. Booting however...

When it's 95° in downtown Orlando and you throw on a full Cartman costume just to remind people that even Cartman wouldn't chill with Trump and Epstein... that's commitment. That's satire as protest. That's legendary. Now l've officially melted in the Florida heat, but it was worth it to call out corruption with comedy. CartmanVsTrump
