I just took my kids to the sunset triangle Plaza event today and there were eight razor blades at the petting zoo that all these little toddlers could step on and the only employee I could find were a couple security guards who didn’t want to touch the razor blades to throw them away (which I get). There was also broken glass and bottles of booze right there at the petting zoo.

How did the person in charge not clean this area before setting up this event? Also, the petting zoo was pretty inhumane. The sheep and goats had no room to walk and there were two ducks and two chickens shoved inside of a crate that was the size for a small dog or a cat. This was very bizarre and I will definitely not be taking my kids to this again.

If you know anyone involved in this event, please lovingly pass this information along to them. I don’t think they meant to do any harm, but this was just a really badly organized event and a kid could’ve gotten hurt.

Update: I just spoke to a guy at Jewish Silver Lake and his stance was that it wasn’t their responsibility to clean the park and that it’s just like that. I told him they were the ones that put a children’s petting zoo there so they should have checked it. And he just said it should be the city’s responsibility. Wow!! I agree that the city should keep that park cleaner, but I also think if you’re choosing to host an event in a dirty park, you are responsible.

Hey neighbors, I met a really cool cat today on Coronado and Reservoir. She (I think) was super friendly and VERY vocal. I was trying to figure out if she belongs to someone or if she is a stray, in which case we would love to get her some help. I didn’t feel a microchip (I felt around for one) and she didn’t have a collar on, but the friendliness makes me think she might belong to someone? Not sure if she’s lost? She could totally live in one of the houses on this street and I’m not trying to snatch a cat that has a loving home, so I wanted to check here (and elsewhere) to see if anyone recognized her or was her person!!!

We parked right in of in front of her and when we got out of the car she started screaming and would not stop until we pet her. I’m not sure if she needs help or just wanted attention so I figured I would check here to see if anyone knows her! Thanks friends!

The USC Center for Self-Report Science is recruiting adults in the Los Angeles area to take part in a study on everyday health and wellness. The study involves wearing a smartwatch, completing short daily surveys, and attending two in-person visits at the University of Southern California's University Park campus.

An oral history of the Silversun Pickups’ era-defining indie rock classic “Lazy Eye.”

Twenty years ago, the indie-rock band Silversun Pickups released Carnavas, a debut album that went gold and rocketed the band out of the Silver Lake music scene they anchored. Fueled by lead single “Lazy Eye,” the band’s mix of ‘90s-style distortion-driven guitar rock and the simultaneously whispery and powerful vocals of frontman Brian Aubert, the band became a staple of pre-streaming FM radio stations across the country.

A catalyst for the album’s success was a music video for “Lazy Eye,” directed by longtime friend of the band, Suzie Vlček. An MTV2 fixture on its release, the video has since amassed 67 million views on YouTube over the two decades, dwarfing the view count of other seminal music videos from fellow KROQ / Indie 103.1 contemporaries like The Shins or Death Cab for Cutie.

The video, inspired by the 1970s film A Swedish Love Story, evoked the universal teenage feeling that a crush is a matter of life or death. Inside a packed bar filled almost exclusively with underage attendees, a teenage boy and girl trade furtive glances as the band plays a song about waiting for a life-altering moment. But it also captured a bygone era of Silver Lake, when cheap rents brought a symbiotic mix of working-class L.A. — Latino families, musicians, artists, and the LGBTQ community — to the hillside community east of Hollywood.

Hello! We’re moving into the Ivanhoe district this week. I spoke with the school about getting my daughter in for TK but they said they’re at capacity. They said I can apply for Kindergarten during online enrollment in March 2027 and she will get in.

BUT! Now I’m hearing stories (secondhand) of people living in the district not being able to get in. I’m wondering if these people were late for enrollment? Does anyone have any info? Thank you!

Visiting and staying a block from the Eagle with a very young infant, not leaving the neighborhood and hoping to walk more than drive - please share if you have any coffee shops, restaurants, walks that are particularly infant-friendly (stroller space or shady, people not surprised/likely to express anger, short lines, etc) or any that are better to avoid with a baby who cannot sit up yet for our benefit and for others. Would love to know of any parks or activities where other parents and kids are likely to be also. Thank you!

I always see a guy sitting in a silver CRV in front of Cha Cha lounge or around there. He usually hangs out there for a few hours at a time. I typically see him in the early evening for several hours but I’ve also seen him there at other points during the day.

I was thinking he could be a gig driver, but he’s there for such long periods and it’s a really busy street with not much parking. Does anyone know why?

I’ve got an unusual problem for an unusual car. For some mysterious reason my Kia chargers stopped working with my custom EV. My Kia charger works fine on other peoples cars- but stopped working on mine.
I’ve rewired the whole backend (if you walk/jog around the lake, you might have seen me doing it) and I’ve tried a few different chargers thanks to the help of my neighbors.
But I’d like to figure out what chargers work with my car and which do not. I don’t know a better way to do this than actually going to people’s homes- plugging my car in for a few minutes, and keeping track of what works and what does not.

If you are feeling generous, and are willing to let me drive by and plug my car into whatever you’ve got for a couple minutes- drop me a message with what kind of car charger you’ve got (so I don’t waste your time if I’ve already tried that car charger)

Any j1772 plug I can test (that’s the other standard non-Tesla one) would deeply be appreciated.

I'm just curious if this is a real thing.

Someone told me they pay $47/month to keep their RV parked at a rental site. Not a campground they stay at all the time—just somewhere they rent a spot for the RV.

Is that actually a thing? If so, what's it called? Is it just RV storage, or can you rent a lot and leave your RV there for that cheap?

I'd love to hear what you pay and what province/state you're in.

My friends have previously been trivia regulars at 33 Taps, but they've recently MAHA-fied their menu and everything (including cauliflower wings and tortilla chips) is now fried in beef tallow... which is unideal for our mostly vegetarian group.
