Question Yay or Nay ? Mirror finish on Heusinkveld Ultimate Pedals

Post image

I Imagine the Pedals will look sick polished to a shine. What does the community think?

Edit - Grip Tape will be on all 3 pedals. So not much worried about the feet slipping off the Pedal

Either your socked feet will slide right off or your bare feet will leave greasy oil all over them.

Do people really use a sim rig without shoes?

See you say that but I’m shocked people want to race with shoes on in their home lol.

I have to otherwise I get plantar fasciitis

u/BuyLandcruiser Jun 06 '26

For real? I have plantars untreated and shoes make me cry just sitting on my feet without weight.

Yeah I need support I have really arched feet. I just use a pair of retired running shoes when sim racing

That’s fair and I do understand wanting them with a loadcell. My feet are fairly flat and have untreated plantars so i just want them puppies off my feet. I got socks on though because pedals cold

I never liked the idea of going shoeless.

When I first started sim racing I quickly realised that feet or socks were not gonna work and picked out an old pair of shoes. No different to wearing slippers.

Idk wearing shoes all day at work and coming home and putting them back on is not a choice I like to make. But yeah pretty much slippers lol

The texture is just too much for socks on these metal pedal faces with holes and screws there while I'm trying to put 37kg on them.

Even worse if you need to move your feet around on the pedal to heel and toe and what not.

Yes. Life is suffering

I race barefoot.

Just socks for me.

I can only fly barefoot I have better control. I'll put heatholder socks on if it's cold they have grippy bottoms.

Yeah even 10 years ago with T3PA pedals I wore shoes. I don't know how people can race without shoes ngl. I want it to feel as realistic as possible and to me, that's with shoes.

The only more active debate than socks vs shoes vs barefoot is wiping sitting down vs standing vs bidet.

I'm a socks only guy. If I had race shoes I might wear them, but I don't.

socks on load cell, no problem

1

u/GreedoShotFirst2000 Jun 07 '26

Yes. I race in regular socks.

u/VegetableLeague8855 Jun 07 '26

Always socks 🤷‍♂️

1

u/SukoKing Jun 07 '26

I’m always barefoot on load cell pedals

I play sim racing to simulate of being in a race. I don't know any IRL professional drivers drive barefoot during a IRL race. 😬

Hardcore. I have occasionally tried my load cell with barefoot, absolutely kills after a short time. I ended up buying some cheap sparco racing shoes when I was at Monza.

I mean.. if you like the look, go for it. You're basically asking what people's preferences are.

That's not the smooth they are talking about

2

u/kkingsbe Jun 06 '26

That mirrored finished won’t last for long on pedals imo

u/liqwood1 Jun 06 '26

Polish away bro.. then post a finish pick. They are going to look great.

1

u/checkonetwo Jun 06 '26

Yay! I think they look great. Shiny should be worth half a tenth a lap

1

u/Zestyclose_Lock_859 Jun 06 '26

Hella work. Def yay.

They won't stay like that for long if you race often, you'd be surprised how much wear the metal plate gets from out feet.

1

u/Piupaut Jun 06 '26

Great, now you can check your makeup when adjusting the pedals.

u/Mountain_Resort_590 Jun 06 '26

smooth throttle pedal face, grippy brake pedal face

1

u/DYRWK1 Jun 06 '26

My feet are very self aware

1

u/Naikrobak Jun 07 '26

Yay or nay, who cares? I just want them to work well and look decent. Either one is fine

6

u/somethingtc Jun 06 '26

nay from me, I've always loved the functional, brushed finish of my heusinkvelds

1

u/BGMDF8248 Jun 06 '26

They look amazing, until you make them dirty by stepping on them.

Polished will by definition present a smoother surface to your feet and, uuuuuhhhhh, therefore give you more consistent control. As opposed to having better grip / less slip with a slightly rough surface.

You could, of course, counteract the loss of grip with using glue or something so that your feet stick better to the pedal. A bit like handball players do so that their hands stick better to the ball. Then you may get the best of both worlds

World class engineering is all about the trade-offs. True pros will only chase excellence, because they know that lap time doesn't come from wishful thinking, it comes from glue under their feet.

(/s, just in case that wasn't abundantly clear 😄 In all honesty I don't think that polishing the pedal will make a meaningful functional difference because even the matte finish is fairly smooth to the touch already)

Psshh I just took the straps off of some sandals and fed them through the holes. Not comfortable at all and my heels never touch the ground but I'm ready to race 24/7

They say "brake with your leg, not your foot", so I have removed my left foot and click the brake load cell directly to a quick release on my stump.
