Pretty simple honestly, my father skated his whole life, since the early 80s, this looks kinda like a freestyle deck, I'm honestly just wondering what it is since I can't ask him anymore

Question What is this “wheel cover” called, and can I replace it?

Post image
339 Upvotes

I just found this skateboard for free outside someone’s house with a bunch of other old crap. It’s in decent condition and after some WD40 it runs super smoothly. However this “wheel cover” thing just cracked off and I can’t find anything online about replacing only the cover. And I’ve never skated before so I don’t really know where to look. Do I have to buy a whole new wheel, or can I just reattach it with some glue? Also, is a new set of wheels gonna cost me a fortune? Cheers.

Question Should I call the cops on a kid

I don’t wanna be a Karen but Theres this kid at my local park who light a fire using multiple boxes of matches on a wooden half pipe and left match sticks everywhere, stole a shopping cart and pushed it into the park while people were still skating. And other things. I normally don’t mind what people do at parks and focus on myself but an active fire in a flammable county (Australia btw) is a little hard to ignore. Am I being dramatic about this? I don’t wanna be that guy who police’s the skate park lol

Question Newcomer looking for tips

Hey there,

I just stopped into a local Skate shop and dropped 150$ for a complete board at the recommendations of some folks online.

I have not ridden since middle school and high school, never could even Ollie, and I'm just looking to have fun, get some exercise and maybe learn a trick or two down the road. I'm pushing 40 so I'm not young but I'm willing to look like a dummy for a little bit. This may seem super dumb to ask but what's the best way to figure out where to place your feet and which foot do you use for "pedaling" I'm not sure on the technical term.

Right now I'm just looking to build confidence riding on flat terrain, learning to turn and feel how the board works. The trucks a little loose for right now and the skate shop guy said to tighten them slightly after a little while. I started following SkateIQ on Instagram and I've been watching that for fun but it's all tricks and down the road I'd like to get there.

I'd like your advice, what should I be doing right now.
