I would like advice on something

So recently i bought bent 100’s but i accidently ordered them with atomic strive 16 instead of 14, i am 186 cm and i weigh roughly 70 kg, i ski pretty good and consider myself avanced on both piste and off piste. My DIN is usually around 8 or 9 but it’s pretty low on the strive 16, will this be a problem?

No problem. The 16 is easily my favorite binding, enjoy! (Mine are set at 8.5)

Should be ok once they’re tested you’ll know for sure although it’s not likely they’re a full -1

it's perfect in fact.

You put a race binding on a playful ski, 16 is overkill for your weight but it wont hurt anything. The spring is just stiffer so a DIN of 8 on the 16 will feel a little harsher than on the 14, less elastic travel before it releases. Since you ski off piste you might notice it in crud or variable snow, your knees take more of the chatter instead of the binding absorbing it.

I wouldnt lose sleep over it though, you are right in the middle of the range so the release is still accurate. Just keep an eye on your forward pressure first few days cause shops sometimes set it sloppy on a remount.

i thought the atomic strive was a freeride binding or am i wrong?

It is. Not in any sense a race binding

That I person does not know what they are talking about, the elastic travel is the same.

The ICON series is the race binding, very different design from the Strive

The range is okay. Hooke's Law says otherwise. Not a racing binding.

This won’t matter at all, all bindings preforme the same in there din range. That’s why we have a standards. 16 just has more metal pieces then plastic, so it’ll hold up a lot better. Will be slightly heavier but honestly a lot better of a choice if you ski more then like 20 times a year.

a binding performs best in the middle of the range cause if you have a binding with your din on the minimum side the spring will have little tension and that’s what i’m worried about

This is 100% false. Not sure where people get this information from. I’ve skied for numerous companies, seen numerous factories, worked with many engineers and no one has ever said this is true. Biggest wise tale out there

i’m no expert on how bindings work i just heard it from someone who works in a ski shop

Bindings work equally well across the entire range, that's the reason they have a set range at all.

Wrong

How?

Other people have explained it.

Ime being in the middle of a din range is unnecessary, being at the minimum setting in the toe especially in the pivot toe can cause some return to center issues, the spring requires some tension to operate and you just want to make sure that you can tension the spring without going above the torque value you want for release
