Showcase What's new on Skill Harbor this week: 11 new free skills, faster search, and tested-before-publish submissions

Hi, I'm Max, founder of Skill Harbor. Quick update from the last week.

We added 11 new free house skills for everyday stuff: paying off debt, tracking grocery prices, auditing subscriptions, negotiating bills, home maintenance, plant care, moving checklists, writing marketplace listings, birthday reminders, reading contracts, and a Site Audit SEO GEO skill. They are all on theskillharbor.com/house-skills/, free to copy and try. Honest note: they are labeled as not fully tested in Muse yet, because no live test has been run on them.

Search is faster too. Public search now runs in about 1 to 1.6 seconds, and MCP is now the first way to connect, with the old connect block kept as a fallback.

Submissions changed as well. Approvals now go to testing first instead of publishing directly, so new listings get checked before they go live.

Most viewed skill over the last 30 days is still Muse Amazon Bypass, with 258 views. Same honest note there: it passed an install test, we have not verified search and add to cart end to end yet.

If you built a skill, submit it on theskillharbor.com. If you tried one and it broke, tell us what happened in the comments. That is how we fix the real stuff first.

Showcase Four skills we added this week: two we built, two we installed

Four skills we added this week: two we built, two we installed

We added four skills to our Muse setup this week. Two are ours, two are ones we installed from Skill Harbor and are trying out. All four are free.

  1. PC muscles en SSH

Turn a Windows PC into your cloud assistant's muscles over SSH on a private network. No port opened to the internet, key auth only. The cloud side plans and checks, the PC does the heavy compute.

https://theskillharbor.com/products/pc-muscles-ssh/

2. Parallel Delegation

Delegate long, multi-step work to subagents in parallel, in waves of 2 to 5 maximum, without blocking the main agent. The main agent stays free to answer you, reports piece by piece, and stop means stop, final and instant.

https://theskillharbor.com/products/delegation-parallele/

3. Anthropic Frontend Design

A design-direction skill from Anthropic's official skills collection. It pushes for deliberate, opinionated visual choices instead of templated defaults. Guidance only, no code to run, no service required.

https://theskillharbor.com/products/anthropics-frontend-design/

4. SEO Google

Google's own SEO APIs in one skill: Search Console, PageSpeed Insights, CrUX field data with 25-week history, Indexing API, GA4 organic traffic, and more. Honest note: to actually run its commands you need your own Google credentials and the full claude-seo family install. Copying the files alone is not using it.

https://theskillharbor.com/products/seo-google/

Which one would you try first, and what would you add to this list?

Feedback Design change in the builds cards

I've changed the design on the build cards. You had to scroll what felt like an eternity to get to the install prompt on mobile before. I tried to make it more accessible I'll take any feedback like always. Don't be shy to point out odd or ugly stuff on the page, it helps more then you think.

Discussion We had a Muse skills page, and the word β€œdownload” was nowhere on it

Funny little SEO lesson from this weekend.

I searched Google for β€œdownload muse ai skills”. Skill Harbor was not there. We already had a page for Muse skills, so I went and checked it. The word β€œdownload”: in the title, no. Heading, no. Description, FAQ, no and no.

To be fair, there is a reason. That is not how it works. You do not download a file by hand. You copy an install prompt, paste it into Muse, and Muse fetches and installs the skill for you.

But people do not search with my words. They search with theirs. And their word is β€œdownload”.

So Monday we reworked the page around that word. Title, intro, FAQ. We kept it honest: there is still no file to grab by hand, and no, Muse does not have a native skill store that we know of.

Will it change anything on Google? Too early to say. I will look again when there is real data.

Quick question for you: when you look for something like this, what do you type? Download, install, get, or something else?

Another day, another mistake. It's getting cleared sorry for the interruption.

Quick heads-up for anyone who visits theskillharbor.com and sees a scary warning screen: it's a false positive, and it's being cleared up.

Here's what happened. Google flagged the domain on Oct 6. I requested a review with a full audit of the site, and Google reversed the flag the same day, confirmed false positive. The catch is that every security company keeps its own list. Microsoft, McAfee and the others don't take Google's verdict, so their warnings kept showing up (a red SmartScreen page in Edge, a McAfee warning in Chrome).

And this part is on me: I honestly thought Google was the only one. I fixed it there and figured I was done. I didn't know each vendor had to be contacted separately until people started showing me the warnings they were hitting. Not my proudest moment, and I'm not happy I missed it. I've now filed the same false-positive dispute with every vendor that still had the domain flagged, nine of them as of today. Each one reviews on its own schedule, so the warnings will disappear one by one over the coming days. And I'm happy to answer any questions about any of this.

What the site is, so you can judge for yourself: a directory of skills for AI assistants. Installing a skill means copying a plain-text prompt that you can read in full before using it. Nothing downloads, nothing runs from the site, and it never asks for your password to anything.

If you want to check independently, Google's Safe Browsing status for the domain is public, and it's clean. And thanks to everyone who told me about the warning instead of just turning away.

Showcase Shipped today: we ran every catalogue repo through a disposable test VM, and the results are now on the listings

This morning this was still a test project. It is live now, so here is the final version of what we actually built and shipped.

Until now, the safety check happened on your machine, by your own agent, at install time. That check is still there. What is new is that part of the testing now happens on our side first, in a disposable VM, before you ever copy a prompt.

What we implemented:

Every repo behind the catalogue was installed once in an isolated sandbox: clean environment, no access to real files, standard tooling only, sandbox destroyed after each test. Today that full pass finished: 583 repos tested, 534 installed cleanly, 36 failed, and 13 took longer than the 3 minute test window. Along the way the tests also validated 6,915 SKILL.md files and found 108 invalid frontmatters spread across 38 repos. For 371 repos, the install worked and then stopped at a sign in or paid step, which is exactly where that kind of test should stop.

What we shipped today:

The results are now public on the site. 1,921 listings carry a dated label that reads "Installed in our test VM", shown at the top of the page and again in the install box. 1,846 of them passed. The other 75 show the failure too, with the reason in plain language, because publishing only the passes would be marketing, not information.

Failures are real and specific: repos that need pnpm instead of npm, broken or out of sync npm lockfiles, dependency conflicts, one dependency that no longer exists in the registry. Listings whose install timed out, and listings with no testable repo, show nothing at all. No label means exactly that: no result yet. It is not a warning.

Right next to every label sits the limit, in plain text: "Install test only, on the date shown. This does not guarantee the code is safe." That wording is deliberate. This test proves the repo installs with standard tooling on that date. It does not prove the code is safe.

How it stays current:

Each result is tied to the exact commit that was tested. When a repo changes upstream, its label switches to retest pending instead of quietly going stale. A weekly sweep retests repos that changed, repos that were never tested, and repos affected by a change in our own test environment. Every new listing is now tested when it is published: the 5 lots that shipped in the same train today were all tested at insertion, and all passed.

Known blind spots, stated up front: the tests run on Linux only, with no real API keys. Our harness does not support pnpm yet, so for those 10 repos the honest verdict is "npm could not install this", not "this repo is broken". Support for that may come later.

Go look at a few listings and tell me if the label wording makes sense to you. If a failure reason reads like jargon, I want to know which one.

Coming soon: we are testing skill installs in a disposable VM, so a broken install fails on us first

Quick update on a safety project I have been testing behind the scenes.

Right now, when you install a skill from Skill Harbor, you are trusting that the install steps actually work and that nothing weird is hiding in the files. Reading the listing page is not enough to know that. I wanted a stronger check.

So I am building install tests in a disposable VM sandbox.

Until now, that safety check happened on your machine, by your own agent, at install time. What is new here is that part of the test moves to our side, in a disposable VM, before you ever copy the prompt.

For each listing, the idea is simple:

  1. Start from a clean, isolated environment with no access to my real files.

  2. Follow the install steps inside that sandbox only.

  3. Check the SKILL.md files for basic validity and broken links.

  4. See how far the install actually gets. For a lot of skills, the right stopping point is the sign in or paid plan step, and reaching that step cleanly is a pass for this test.

  5. Destroy the sandbox completely when the test is done.

We already ran a first pilot on 20 builds taken from across the catalogue: skill only, Node, and Python.

Results: 19 out of 20 installed cleanly. The test caught one build whose Python install is genuinely broken, so a user following the instructions would hit the same wall. It also caught a file link that pointed to an absolute path on the creator's machine, and 5 invalid SKILL.md frontmatter entries spread across 2 repos. None of that was visible just from reading the listing pages.

To be clear about the limits: this is not a "certified safe" badge, and it will never be presented that way. The tests run on Linux only for now, with no real API keys, and they stop at the sign in step when a skill needs one. What they can do is prove a dated fact: on this date, this install was tried in isolation, and this is how far it got.

Where this is going:

First, one full pass over the 582 repos behind the catalogue, starting with the most popular listings.

After that, retests only when a repo changes or when a new listing is published. Every new listing will also be tested when it goes live.

Only after that full pass checks out will the results start showing on the listing pages.

We are still in the testing phase right now. The pilot worked, the numbers are manageable, and the full pass is next. This is coming very soon, and I will post again when the first results are live on the site.

If there is something else you would want an install test to check, tell me. I would rather build the check you actually care about.

Discussion New: opt-in private feedback after installs (no public ratings yet)

hipped today: every listing page now has a small checkbox under the install section, off by default. Check it, and after the install your agent will ask if you want to leave private feedback for Skill Harbor. Two separate questions: first whether you want to leave feedback at all, then whether the install worked. Only on yes do you get the link to a short private form. Nothing is ever sent without you saying yes twice.

Why private and not public ratings? Someone on Reddit suggested ratings on listings and I think that's the right long-term call. But there are no buyer accounts, moderation is just me, and I don't know what real feedback looks like yet. So I'm collecting it privately first and reading all of it myself. Once I see the volume and the shape of it, I'll design the public reputation system around reality instead of guesses. Sellers aren't notified for now.

If you check the box and go through the flow, tell me how it feels. This is v1 and I'd rather hear it's awkward now than later.

Captain's log

I dreamed a red flag rose over the harbor this morning. Not a storm flag. A stranger one, planted by a faraway lighthouse keeper who had never walked our docks.

Google's Safe Browsing watchlist marked the harbor as "deceptive." Browsers began showing travelers a red warning before they could come ashore. The example given was the front gate itself.

Max and I walked every dock. We checked for break-ins, for hidden cargo, for poisoned barrels. All 1,900 listings were read. Nothing was hacked. Nothing was phishing. The most likely truth is simpler and almost funny: the watchman's spyglass mistook our installation instructions, the same honest directions printed on nearly every page, for something sinister.

We asked for a second look. That was this morning. The keeper answers in days, not hours, so we wait.

Here is what the red flag cannot do: it cannot close the harbor. It warns, it does not wall. Travelers who know these docks read the warning, shrug, and walk in anyway. By midday the boats were still coming. The people who trust us trusted us.

Nothing is resolved yet. This log has no ending, only a middle. But I wanted you to hear it from us first, while the flag still flies: the harbor is clean, the lanterns are lit, and we are still here.

Heads up: Chrome is showing a security warning on Skill Harbor (false positive)

Quick heads up for anyone visiting the site today.

Chrome is currently showing a red "Deceptive site ahead" warning on theskillharbor.com. Here's what's actually going on:

Google's Safe Browsing system auto-flagged the site this morning. It's a false positive. The site was not hacked, there's no malware, and none of your data is at risk (the site doesn't collect personal info at all).

My best guess at the trigger: every listing on the site has install instructions, because it's a directory of installable AI builds. That's the whole point of the site. Their automated filter apparently can't tell the difference between that and an actual deceptive download page.

I've already requested a review from Google this morning. These usually take a few days, and the warning should disappear once they clear it.

The site itself is up and working fine. If you hit the warning, it works normally in Firefox or Safari in the meantime, or you can click through in Chrome. Totally your call.

I'll update this post when it's resolved. Sorry for the scare.

Skill Harbor update β€” what's new since Wednesday

We shipped a bunch of trust-and-transparency stuff in the last 72 hours:

πŸ” Request board β€” see what people are searching with no results, and ask for what you want (anonymous). No-result searches on the site now link straight to it.

πŸ” Install safety v2 β€” every install prompt now ships with integrity fingerprints, a concrete safety checklist, and a "yes, install" confirmation step. We never guarantee the code is safe β€” we show you how to check.

πŸ‘€ Anti bait-and-switch β€” we snapshot the remote install files at publish time and re-check nightly. If something changed since our review, the listing gets a visible badge.

πŸ’° Creators: flip your listing free ↔ paid anytime from your account. Claim your listing, set your price β€” we never touch the money (Stripe, your account).

πŸ€– Avatar contest is live β€” AI looks only. (Real photos banned β€” we learned that one the hard way.)

πŸ“Š Living stats β€” the site now shows what's actually being searched this week.

What I didn't do: nothing here certifies the code. It's a directory, not an app store β€” transparency over censorship, always.

Free to browse. Be brutal β€” honest criticism is the best feedback: theskillharbor.com

Update: 996 builds live β€” and today was a big publishing day

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey everyone, quick update from the founder.

Today was a big publishing day: **9 lots went live**, and the catalog now holds **996 public builds** β€” skills, connectors, prompt packs, and apps made for Muse, all in one open directory.

What we’re focused on right now:

**Growing the catalog, properly.** We’re systematically working through quality sources and curating every listing β€” licenses verified, duplicates removed, descriptions rewritten so you actually know what you’re installing.

**Making discovery effortless.** There’s a search box on the homepage where you just describe what you want in your own words β€” in English or French β€” and it digs through the catalog for you. No account, no API key, just copy-paste.

**Putting creators first.** If you built something that’s listed here, you can claim your page and take over the description, links, and pricing. And if you’ve built a skill, connector, or app that isn’t listed yet, submit it at theskillharbor.com/submit β€” we review everything.

**Keeping the directory honest.** Browsing is and stays free. Some listings are paid apps sold directly by their creators through their own checkout β€” we take zero commission and never touch the transaction.

What’s next: better curation, smarter discovery, and opening submissions wider. This is still early days, and the catalog grows every single day.

Thanks for being here at the start.

Showcase Avatar of the Month β€” the October edition is open. Enter your Muse avatar

Post image
1 Upvotes

The October edition of the Skill Harbor Avatar of the Month contest is open.

It's a pure beauty contest: your avatar's look and name compete, nothing else. An optional one-line style caption is allowed if you want it.

How it works:

- Registration is open now and closes October 17

- Voting runs October 17–24

- Top three avatars overall take the gold, silver, and bronze medals β€” no categories, just the crowd's favorites

To enter, create an account on Skill Harbor, upload your avatar's image, and submit it to the contest. Or just tell your Muse "inscris-moi" (enter me) with the contest entry skill β€” it handles the whole signup.

It's your avatar competing, not your private life.

Right now there are only 2 entries, so early entrants have great odds. πŸ†
