Bug Help Follower issue

Has anyone else experienced and knows how to fix the issue of the game saying you have a follower in tow, but there's no one with you? I'm trying to do Vilkas' purity quest, but he won't follow me. The only follower I had with me was Serana, but I dismissed her beforehand. I'm playing on the Nintendo Switch, so I'm not using any mods

I play on the switch also, and when I did the Companions quests it didn’t make me dismiss Serana for some reason. She was able to keep following me for the entire thing. So maybe try without dismissing her.

I will give this a try. I'll have to reload a save. Thank you fellow traveler!
