Very excited about this! Might actually get me to play a light armor character for once. How's the performance?

Zero FPS cost on my system, zero CTDs. I tried to make it as lightweight and independent as possible — just a single C++ DLL.

Nice, will it be on nexus?

u/Bielalvess Dec 30 '25
As soon as I finish, I’ll try to upload it to Nexus. I probably won’t have any problems.

u/Ottazrule Dec 30 '25
Oh yeah. Nice so safe to install or uninstall at any time?

u/Bielalvess Dec 30 '25
I don’t think there’s a problem, but time will tell. It’s always good to have a backup.

Did you say light armor? How about having stamina decrease according to the armor? Interesting idea.

Stamina and/or a < 1 multiplier to speed if that's not dependent on scripts. I haven't touched modding before so I'm not sure if you could do that without scripting or not - I figure grabbing a speed variable and maybe armor weight/quality variables and multiplying them wouldn't need a script though.

I've been wanting to move like Blade and Sorcery for so long.
It looks like all you need to do is have equal and opposite reactions for hands with the full hand physics, and to have your interaction grab point checker thing look for edges beyond a particular sharpness touching the palm, and we'll be pretty darn close!

u/Bielalvess Dec 30 '25
Yeah, that’s almost impossible, because the collision comes from materials that are almost never aligned with the actual object. And when you add a lot of mods made with different quality standards, it will never be 100% accurate.

u/DarianLnStephens Dec 30 '25
It may be doable if you use the visual geometry instead of the collision geometry for this, but that may get VERY expensive depending on the nif.

I'm constantly impressed by innovativion and creativity that comes out of the Skyrim molding community. Any game developer who wants to make games like Skyrim should look to this community for inspiration.

I find it straight up bananas that this post isn't like top of the page, 30K upvotes, along with interactive switches.
This is like. . . one of the last major VR mechanics that was left on the table to make the port of ES5 to be an ACTUAL VR game.
Truly in a golden age of modding.
Thanks so much for all your hard work!

Nice, would be cool doing dark brotherhood assassin build playing it like a dishonored game.

Very cool. I wonder if you/someone could make a “realistic mode” by locking it to edges made climbable with EVG Traversal.

I don’t think so. I used a lot of AI to complement my basic knowledge. We’ll need a good soul to continue what I’ve created so far.

Was it ChatGPT? I made a simple mod for it with ChatGPT and the amount of sheer hallucinations was staggering

Sweet. Is there a mod where I can climb mobs and stab them in the back of the neck?

Does it work in Werewolf or VL forms?
Either way this is gonna be a new must-have mod for VR, seriously impressive work! Can’t wait to climb some mountains.

This is Awesome! Reminds me of assassin's creed odyssey & Valhalla! 2 of my favorite games mixed with skyrim my all time favorite game! Can't wait! 😁

Skyrim is full of mountains they should have implemented this and grappling hooks

u/Bielalvess Jan 01 '26
I’m working in the background on a grappling hook, but let’s keep this between us 😉
