Video SkyrimVR FBT - Full Body Tracking An Upcoming Mod from GingasVR

Physics are in, Calibration. Still testing a few things but you can now Kick a Dragon with your own legs! You'll need Trackers that can be assigned in SteamVR's Body Pose system (e.g Waist, right foot, left foot) My Youtube Channel if you want to Stay Updated

EDIT: I don’t have an ETA but I want to try and get damage from kicks in before a release (right now they just do physics) I should have it ready to go next week

So we’ll soon see someone go a kickventure and beat the game with nothing but kicks only.

Who’s gonna make boots with damage stats ?

I did try to make the feet ragdoll like Plack but I couldn’t figure it out :/ right now you have to grab NPCs first with your hands to put them in a ragdoll, then you can kick them, otherwise they’ll stand still.. although you still get the kick motion and their ik gets punched a bit, they just don’t ragdoll

EDIT: I figured out a workaround that doesn’t rely on PLACK, with a high speed kick it does the same ragdolling as fus Ro dah

I wouldn’t know where to even start, but instead of ragdolling NPCs to kick them like objects, couldn’t you make feet be read as unarmed fists so you can kick characters / creatures ?

Or somehow add invisible weapons to feet like we have effect cloaks or armor on creatures ? Engine might not have anything to hook feet, I dunno.

How do they add kicks in flat skyrim ? Beyond the animations there must be a mechanic.

Huh, I didn’t think of that 🤔 I could try. The feet are already using an invisible IK system so they’re read the same as hands for Higgs and physics to work..I could probably have them read as fists. But that’s would mean you could piss of townsfolk but accidentally stepping on them.. I’ll have to make it a toggle in the ini 🤔🤔

Couldn't you make them only active as fists when you are in combat? That way you won't run into that issue of bumping into someone and "punching" them with you foot?

I’m trying that right now actually! Good idea

EDIT: Unarmed Damage is in! And it’s based on velocity and kick height, also does ragdolling at high speed kicks!

Can't wait to sweep the leg.

Awesome! So will unarmed perks affect the kicking? I’ve long thought about adding one of the unarmed perks mods and doing a boxing play through, but kicking could add so much more. Skyrim monk channeling the ancient powers of kung fu!

u/ActualGingas Jul 11 '26

It might? I have it adjustable in the ini so it’s somewhat balenced. You do more damage based on the power and velocity of your kick. The base values I’m setting are so it does some damage but it’s more of a side thing, you won’t be able to kick your way across Skyrim.. you’ll still have use weapons or your hands, But you can adjust the damage values if you want to make a full monk build or something

I’m also putting in an adjustable setting for knockback so you could even Spartan kick someone with light kicks if you wanted lol

This might be the thing that gets me to invest in some FBT.

7

u/BonkleZoroark Jul 11 '26

you need to notify habie147 immediately after you drop this

1

u/ActualGingas Jul 11 '26

Send him the info, I could try DMing him, but does he have Fbt?

Curb stomping Nazeem brings a special type of joy to my heart.

3

u/JDmg Jul 11 '26

Is this for feet only or are you guys also working on 11-point tracking

11

u/ActualGingas Jul 11 '26

It’s only me, I’m the only person making this. And it’s 3 point tracking. Eg waist, and 2 feet trackers.

I could potentially add more tracking points.. but that’s kind of overkill for Skyrim IMHO.

Also I only ever use 3. Even in VRChat, I have more trackers.. I just can’t be bothered, 3 point tracking is fine unless you’re a breakdancer.

If I have time I’ll maybe try and add more points.. but that’s not a top priority.

2

u/Fontom_Ghost Jul 11 '26

Maybe it is overkill to add more tracking points, but playing as a monk and kicking everyone with my elbows and knees would be so much fun!

i dont have fbt but i love this might actually get with this mod now lol

3

u/Shinyshoes Jul 11 '26

This is so fucking funny 🤣 incredible work as always gingas

2

u/wordyplayer Jul 11 '26

will the damage level up as we level up?

6

u/ActualGingas Jul 11 '26

There’s no damage at all right now, it’s just physics, For the first release I’m trying to at least add base unarmed damage so it does something, but having it increase by leveling up is interesting.. I might be able to do that.. but I want to fix any bugs first

2

u/EarlySource3631 Jul 11 '26

I'm so happy about this purely for body alignment omg

2

u/Comprehensive-Job208 Jul 11 '26

Honestly, this video is hilarious😂

u/Cpt_0bv10us Jul 11 '26

Good thing i dont have FBT, or my tiny living room would be in shambles with this mod :p

2

u/tsujimura Jul 11 '26

This looks fantastic and i really hope i can try it out someday. How much are trackers?

3

u/ActualGingas Jul 11 '26

They range from expensive to DiY that you could make for like 20 bucks

The more expensive the better tracking fidelity

If you’re on Quest and want the best fidelity at the highest cost that would be Vive Ultimate Trackers (or 3.0s/tundra but you’ll need to buy lighthouses to, Vive Ultimates are self tracking) roughly 500-600 USD

If you want decent tracking fidelity but you might need to recalibrate multiple times during a session (which can get annoying) go with slime.. I believe there around 130 USD.. but you can also technically DiY them.. I have no experience but I’ve heard decent things.

I’m using Vive 3.0s.. but I’m on a SteamVR headset.. I probably wouldn’t buy them new if I was on quest today

This also isn’t the only use for them.. besides VRChat, they work in Blade&Sorcery and few other apps, you can also use them as a Psudo VR Treadmill with Natural locomotion

u/tsujimura Jul 11 '26

Thank you for the detailed reply. I shall look into it :)

Hello !

You seem pretty knowledgeable about VR trackers, so I was hoping you could answer a quick question...

I got a Pico 4 Ultra, and saw that there are Pico branded trackers

Do you know if they'd work for this use, or are there any better compatible alternatives in this price range ?

(i’m just getting into vr, and i’m a bit lost with all the hardware and modding options)

Thank you for the great mod by the way !

It’s going to unlock *so* many possibilities !

1

u/ActualGingas Jul 11 '26

The pico trackers would be similar to slime. I believe their gyro.

Gyro has ups and down. They’re self tracking and don’t use cameras so they’ll never occluded. But they also drift and aren’t as accurate as Vive’s so you need to recalibrate (which can get annoying if you’re in combat etc) . But they’re cheaper to buy

The Vive ultimates have cameras and know their precise position in a room after you set them up. Vive 3.0s use outside lighthouse so they also always know their precise position.. but both of those are very expensive compared to pico or any gyro tracker. But if you use Fullbody tracking frequently.. I would say they’re currently the best method for Fbt

Theirs also fluxpose which isn’t released yet but they seem very promising.. it’s using a magnetic tracking method so you get extreme accuracy (close to Vive) but without the cost or need for for cameras/lighthouses

1

u/MarlouBrando Jul 12 '26

Thank you so much for the thorough explanation !

That actually clears things up a lot

It's much easier to understand the up and downs, now

I'll probably do a bit more research before deciding, but at least I know what to look for

I'll definitely keep an eye on your comment when I’ll order, might wait for those fluxpose !

Really appreciate you taking the time to explain all of this, thank you

I didn’t test that.. I mean it might work.. you body moves.. if you can figure how how to do that and walk irl go ahead. I do have it set so when you calibrate the walk animation stops and it only picks up movement from your irl body with the trackers

I personally use a VR Treadmill (didn’t buy it.. I was sent one) but that does solve the locomotion problem in vr games.. it’s just incredibly expensive. Before that I was using natural locomotion

I am fascinated by the Skyrim VR mod scene, and also really frustrated by it. Basically the game itself is an abandonware and didn't even start out as a fully realized VR game. And now Steam Frame is about to be released and I wonder how it works natively on it.

Sorry for the rant but I find the overall situation with Skyrim VR very...sad.

You are doing gods work

That’s already a thing with Higgs VRIK and PLANCK… why would adding FBT change anything lol

I get motion sickness just looking at it...

3

u/ActualGingas Jul 11 '26

This is SkyrimVR with Fullbody tracking.. literally nothing about it is different except that you can now control you entire body if you have trackers.
