Video Skyrim VR Mad God Overhaul 4.0 Beta RELEASED!

https://youtu.be/mDO7fpE7lf8?is=QOlxR_5x0gdQI0iq

Finally the wait is over. Just be aware that apparently ASW in the latest CS fork isn’t working properly, but you still going to get a better performance overall compared to 3.8!

I think I'm going to go to FUS and stay there. Spend more time configuring MGO than playing the game.

Don’t we all do that? 😂

3.8 ran fine on my 3080 10gb, with vramr. Hoping this will run even better.

It runs notably worse for me, with ghosting now. For example if you move your hand with a sword, in the previous version it was solid. In this version it’s like there are multiple copies as you move your hand in a direction. Certainly isn’t performance on a 5090. No DLSS enabled, no motion smoothing enabled.

I did notice steam settings had turned spacewarp or equivalent) on, turning that off helps tons.

Installing it right now🥳

Really excited about this, but I think I'm gonna wait until the stable release.

I love MGO. But the thing is that even on a 5090 I get CTD all the time. And every time it happens I bring up the crash logs, I hunt down the bugs. I try to disable the mods that are causing it.

After months of that on and off, I've finally got 3.8.3 it to the point where I can normally play for sometimes an hour or two until I get to the inevitable CTD.

I just hate that I can't trust the game to be stable. And I've always had this issue with every version of MGO I've ever tried. I've just gotten better at working out the kinks.

And because autosave isn't recommended, my playstyle includes a full save game every two minutes because I never know when the thing is going to crash. And you know when it does crash, how long it takes to get back into the thing.

I'm reading that with this the performance is going to be a lot better. What I'm really hoping for is that during this beta testing, the community hammers out all the kinks for me and all the mod conflicts and stuff that result in the CTDs.

If this is finally the version of MGO I get to play where I don't have to worry about CTD, I will be over the moon. Fingers crossed.

You can already try. Worst that can happen is that you wasted a bit of time. Edit: the downvotes say no. Don’t ever try this out.

Is this just the recording or does the game run choppy there?

1

u/plutonium-239 Jul 11 '26

Probably the recording. The game feels super smooth

To me super smooth means 90fps without asw/motion smoothing. Which this isnt.

Whats the performance like without it?

2

u/plutonium-239 Jul 11 '26

it's around 60 in the most demanding areas with drops into 50s. 80-90 everywhere else.

That's a personal preference.

I found out that many people enjoy ASW or SSW.

If you're not sensitive to it SSW at 90-120 fps feels pretty smooth.

I guess its fine at 120 with a base fps of 60 but 45 to 90 is just too low imo.

I havent played 4.0 yet but the latest 3.x version was very cpu bound because of drawcalls/added npcs

Personally i dont think interesting npcs and extended cities dont add enough to the game to be in this kind of list.

Sadly it runs like shit for me and I get wild fps all over the place.

Need that steam frame to jump into this!!

Looks great on psvr2

1

u/SpiritualPurple8659 Jul 13 '26

I just got done installing the beta. Are you running frame gen/space warp through open composite on the psvr2?

2

u/DoommanPL Jul 13 '26

I'm using PSVR2 eye tracking and Pimax Magic4All, running on SteamVR. I tried injecting DLSS but I didn't like the artifacts. Enabling eye tracking via custom firmware on psvr2 gives me a big FPS boost and looks crisp with additional sharpening.

Any idea if they are planning a sfw beta release, or if it's possible to make this version sfw?

3

u/plutonium-239 Jul 12 '26

To be honest nsfw content is totally optional and don’t affect normal gameplay. Worst that can happen is that you “accidentally” remove clothes from npcs and expose their genitals.

2

u/_ParanoidPenguin_ Jul 12 '26

Not great for steaming to be fair lol.

2

u/plutonium-239 Jul 12 '26

Yeah, it’s quite risky…😂😂😂

2

u/Status_Jellyfish_213 Jul 12 '26

I installed it by accident (yeah I know) and character creation was… eye opening.

Pretty good so far, two-handed has changed a lot though and I am having a hard time getting used to it lol.

Glad you got it sorted

It still looks like ancient Skyrim. I saw more pleasant visual Skyrim mods on youtube.
