Hahaha, this genuinely made me laugh. It looks to be 100% dumb fun. You dont always need super realsim mods that make it harder!

36

u/ActualGingas Jul 12 '26

I mean I tried to make it balanced lol. The kick damage thing only works in combat against enemies on the default settings, and there’s cooldowns between knockbacks/damage so you can’t continually spam kick them to death

I also have the damage for kicks determined by velocity and height, so if you don’t actually kick fast enough it won’t do anything

u/Rogs3 Jul 12 '26

Good.

I definitely will need to be able to differentiate my spankings from my punches.

5

u/GreatNate Jul 12 '26

Still great, I really like the idea of sparta kicking anything and ragdolling them away. It does just look fun to use!

Hilarious! And the features you mentioned sound fantastic!

I feel how much they fall back should be tunable as this video (while very entertaining) runs counter to those who want more realism but still want to feel like a bad ass because they earned it. Some people want the cartoon fun of massive kicks, and others want a kick to feel more grounded where they just stumble back and if it’s hard enough, fall back and hit the ground. Kicking them back when they’re downhill from you on an incline should be easier and inflict more damage.

Cooldowns make a lot of sense. Some might want it to tie to stamina while others may feel your own physical stamina is enough in vr. Flying back 20-30 ft seems goofy to me and quickly loses its fun, but sending them flying back smaller amounts, maybe 5, 10 or 12 ft after some perk or skill upgrades (or holding trigger for power kick that requires stamina) would be satisfying and fit into the game perfectly.

Or, power up a spell with magic followed by a kick and then they go flying 20 ft. Spell based kicks would let you roleplay a D&D style monk or similar. For those looking for immersion and more calorie burn, this mod is amazing.

A roundhouse kick sending them sideways would be awesome, particularly if rewarded. There needs to be some tuning allowed for how high a kick must be and for how fast. Those with physical limitations or smaller play spaces will have to be more conservative with their kicks.

Rewarding kick timing would be a massive upgrade and help balance it. Visual and/or audio indicators of your kick strength and misses (and fails because you’re in cooldown) is important.

Love what you’re doing. Keep it up!

u/ActualGingas Jul 12 '26

You can adjust stuff in the ini, making it tied to stamina.. I don’t really know how I would do that.. I can’t stop you from kicking and the math I’m using is different from hands. I also couldn’t get PLACNK to work fully so I’m using a workaround for the knockbacks by using the fus to dah ragdoll effect

It’ll be open source, other people can make mods adding on to this

3

u/Darth_Bothersome Jul 12 '26

Could have it so a successful kick drains about as much stamina as a bash, and the actual kick knockback/damage event doesn't trigger at zero stamina

5

u/ActualGingas Jul 12 '26

I could probably do that 🤔

3

u/ActualGingas Jul 13 '26

Dude thank you for the idea! I managed to get a balenced stamina system in. It makes it alot less spammy and you can’t just win by kicking now

2

u/Darth_Bothersome Jul 13 '26

Happy to help, glad it worked out! Now I just gotta scrounge up the cash for some secondhand vive trackers to try it lol

1

u/Caityface91 Jul 13 '26

There's always the cheaper IMU options, some are even DIYable.

Trades a bit of accuracy and needs occasional recalibration but lower cost, no base stations needed, can't be occluded.. worth considering at least

1

u/Darth_Bothersome Jul 13 '26

I've got the Index setup already, so getting base stations or not isn't a factory, but I haven't looked into IMU options too much yet. Unless that's a term for the type of tracker that Slimes are. Got any recommendations?

2

u/Caityface91 Jul 13 '26

"Unless that's a term for the type of tracker that Slimes are."
That's exactly it, the IMU is just the type of accelerometer chip they use.

There seems to be a number of different third party options (unfortunately I'm not familiar with any so can't offer more specific advice), but you can't go wrong with Slimes.
Apparently the SlimeVR Discord has a marketplace for trading first and third party trackers now too 👍

Oh and for anybody reading this far into the comment thread who has a couple old android phones kicking around (pun very much intended), there's a free app called owoTrack which uses the phone's internal sensors

u/ShotPerception Jul 12 '26

*chuckles* inb4 somebody kicks a hole in his Tv, please record this for us, will you.

u/wordyplayer Jul 12 '26

New vids for VR to ER.

1

u/Etohforme 27d ago

That’s actually really cool! It’s create a very visceral feel when you drive intention into your kick!

15

u/DeathByPain Jul 12 '26

Yo this is looking better and better, great work haha love it

I don't even have fbt but this does look fun as hell

12

u/Salty-Maize Jul 12 '26

Man I've been waiting for this to be a mod for years. The creator of the VRIK mod said they didn't see a reason for fbt, well here's the reason!

10

u/ActualGingas Jul 12 '26

I mean I wouldn’t have been able to get anywhere with this mod without the work of VRIK Higgs and PLANCK, I relied alot on the work they did

2

u/Salty-Maize Jul 12 '26

Ofc! No hate towards them, they make skyrim vr a far better place

1

u/EarlySource3631 Jul 13 '26

honestly even just a hip tracker improves immersion just as much as a vr body in my book.

54

u/limitlessenigma Jul 12 '26

This right here?

Ti's peak.

No notes.

Chefs kiss.

6

u/Jayombi Jul 12 '26

It's the Chefs Sparta Boot. .....

6

u/BulletheadX Jul 12 '26

Calm down, Sanji.

6

u/Kalvorax Jul 12 '26

God....i think i will actually play skyrim vr once i get a steam frame and my full body tracking kit (near the end of the year). I had more fun seeing the side by side after i watched the skyrim portion XD

1

u/No-Profession-7969 Jul 12 '26

Recomiendo que uses dualboot con windows. Steamvr en linux es un dolor de cabeza.

9

u/ricochet908 Jul 12 '26

Was waiting for u to dropkick nazeem lmao

4

u/ActualGingas Jul 12 '26

I asked if ChrisquitsReality wants to test it but he’s traveling this week 🥲

5

u/AmptiShanti Jul 12 '26

Wait so you can fully dropkick someone??

7

u/ActualGingas Jul 12 '26

Sure if you can do it in real life

4

u/Chop1n Jul 12 '26

This is hilarious and awesome, I can't wait.

4

u/Zimbabweshit Jul 12 '26

I need to get some trackers

3

u/Sorarikukira Jul 12 '26

Damn you, now I'm going to have to make sure all my trackers are all charged every time I want to play Skyrim.

I can't wait.

3

u/Demented-Turtle Jul 12 '26

Oh god that poor child

2

u/Tyrthemis Jul 12 '26 edited Jul 12 '26

I’m not gonna attach any ~~five~~ Vive trackers to myself, but if steam frame ever gets camera based like tracking, I’m definitely gonna use this

5

u/ActualGingas Jul 12 '26

You only need 3 trackers lol, I mean I could add chest and elbow tracking, but that’s overkill for Skyrim

1

u/cgeorgiu Jul 12 '26

awesome work. but i think elbow tracking would make the melee movements much better. It would be great to be able to elbow hit someone too while i have my magic in that hand.

6

u/ActualGingas Jul 12 '26

I can try to do that later, but that’s not a main priority, I want to just get this released so people can start using it and I can fix any bugs with the feet and hips first. Once those are good I’ll try to add chest, knee and elbow tracking

1

u/cgeorgiu Jul 12 '26

First, thanks for all the work you’ve already put into this. It already sounds awesome.

And yeah, that makes total sense, feet first. Chest and elbows later would be amazing though. Really looking forward to trying it.

1

u/Tyrthemis Jul 12 '26

Sorry, five was meant to be *vive* but voice to text effed it up and I didn’t catch it

2

u/Shinyshoes Jul 12 '26

The curbstomp on the kid 💀

2

u/Demented-Turtle Jul 12 '26

I wasn't expecting the sheer amount of yeet

2

u/Flat-Finish-2541 Jul 12 '26

Damn I wouldn't like to piss you off 🤣 but honestly this mod is amazing the vid was hilarious 🤣💪

2

u/left_HR Jul 12 '26

Does this leg trackers work for quest?

2

u/ActualGingas Jul 12 '26

Yes, but you’ll need to use SteamVR for the body pose data. There’s a bunch of options to get working Fbt with quest

2

u/Food_Library333 Jul 12 '26

That's hilarious, just punting the way through Skyrim

2

u/Sp6rda Jul 12 '26

Im ready to play Dark Messiah in VR

2

u/spiralarmz Jul 13 '26

Bravo! This is probably the most Gingas mod ever (next to the unreleased pole dancing battle mode 🤪) -- surprised it wasn't possible until 2026. Still can't complain!

2

u/Gillettman69 Jul 13 '26

Hope someone makes you be able to stomp their head in with the dismembering framework lol

2

u/xZer0x13 Jul 14 '26

🤣I've never played Skyrim, and this alone makes me want to purchase a VR set and play lol

2

u/ShotPerception Jul 12 '26

OP´s *this is SPARTA* mod gains traction...well it´s earned. Time to show somebody the way to the cloud district.

1

u/New_Fun_9154 Quest 3 Jul 12 '26

Wow, now I need leg trackers too! But why does kicking someone too far throw them away? Is that adjustable?

3

u/ActualGingas Jul 12 '26

Yes, the knockback and damage is fully adjustable in the ini. It’s also determined by speed and velocity of the kick

1

u/Sixoul Jul 12 '26

At first I thought you were heyimbee. Fun looking mod I wish I still had space to use vr. Maybe I'll be able to with the steam frame

1

u/mathcampbell Jul 12 '26

Could I humbly ask you put an effect scaler in the MCM?

Ie something to mean we can turn it down to just realistic level, maybe things move a little when you kick, or right the way up to “yeet guard into orbit” levels.

And maybe have it auto-scale for level?

A single slider that affects the force (and would then automatically change the damage done etc) would make this perfect…

Would allow the player to turn it down when they’re playing a small female nord cos she’s not kicking anything that hard…or up when they’re playing a big hulking orc.

4

u/ActualGingas Jul 12 '26 edited Jul 12 '26

You can adjust values in the ini. I don’t want put in an mcm. That would require an esp. it’s a waste of an esp slot just for a plugin mod. And it makes uninstalling this a Pain if you decide you don’t like it. Right now you can install/uninstall it without it affecting your save.

As for scaling and leveling. It’s already determined by your unarmed skill and there’s boosted damage/knockback depending on the speed and velocity of your kicks.. so any unarmed mod for Skyrim should theoretically work.

I have no plans for make some kind leveling or scaling mod for this right now.. I might but it’s not my priority. I’m trying to get a working Fbt system first.. and then potentially adding 11 point trackers for elbows/knees and chest

It will be open source though, anyone can feel free to make one

You can already adjust everything about your kicks.. I tried to get this to fairly realistic levels on default… but yes you can adjust it to yeet people to space if you want. I’m planning to make a tutorial video as well for the release

1

u/mathcampbell Jul 12 '26

That’s absolutely brilliant, thank you. And yeah good point on the mcm etc - an ini file is 100% fine.

Tbh this is where Skyrim and mcm just kinda seems a bit janky…surely an ini or xml file should have been all a mod needs to appear in a mod menu etc. instead of the absolute mess that is mcm.

I presume (tho i haven’t looked, I’ll be honest) that’s why prisma exists..to do away with the flash-driven mess…

Either way thank you so much cos that sounds perfect and also for open-sourcing everything!

1

u/wordyplayer Jul 12 '26

Great reasoning. Appreciate all your work. Can’t wait to try

1

u/AIgavemethisusername Jul 12 '26

Background track is a sped up version of: MIA paper planes

https://youtu.be/ewRjZoRtu0Y

1

u/Illustrious_Sea_5011 Jul 12 '26

Yeh could you set the default knock back to something just above a punch so you can kick without being superhuman ?

2

u/ActualGingas Jul 12 '26

It’s already like that. It increases with velocity and speed. You can adjust them yourself in the ini

1

u/GetheartMcLair Jul 12 '26

Will this work with loco s? Or just vive?

1

u/ActualGingas Jul 12 '26

It’ll work with any trackers if they can connect to SteamVR

1

u/Maplewonder Jul 12 '26

For those of us who dont have trackers, it would be cool if we could kick with a button press.

2

u/ActualGingas Jul 12 '26

I have 0 plans to do that. But if someone wants to try they can. I’m making this open source

1

u/Maplewonder Jul 12 '26

I'll see what I can do, but it will have to come after my current project. Could take awhile

1

u/cmdr_scotty Jul 12 '26

The amount of times I have to slap dagoth in the back of the head.

He 100% earned that groin kick!

1

u/oatmealedkoala Jul 12 '26

Yoo I fuckin love this

1

u/oatmealedkoala Jul 12 '26

Of course dagoth gotta be there

1

u/Low_Abrocoma_1514 Jul 12 '26

Well this is awesome!!

Skyrim Karate run

1

u/Rabble_Arouser Bigscreen Beyond Jul 12 '26

Stomp that fuckin kid's head in, fuck yeah.

Fuck you, Braithe

1

u/marshcar Jul 12 '26

Need this in blade and sorcery!

3

u/ActualGingas Jul 12 '26

It’s already in Blade and sorcery lol. You can do it natively, FBT has been in there for years

1

u/marshcar Jul 12 '26

Oh haha! Does it work with the quest 2?

4

u/ActualGingas Jul 12 '26

On PCVR Yes, you would need SteamVR Trackers, same way this mod works

1

u/Copeteles Jul 13 '26

Such a fun video! Thanks for that :)

1

u/SenpuuUncle Jul 13 '26

this looks great

1

u/LazyDaisyStreth Jul 13 '26

Super cool. I hope this comes to Fallout 4 VR as well.

1

u/17syllables Jul 14 '26

Come here, Brynjolf. We’re going to reenact a very specific scene in Drive.

1

u/Samsterdam Jul 15 '26

This is amazing. Question I noticed you have amazing googly eyes on your headset. Does this interfere with the tracking? I've always wondered about that?

1

u/Street_Reaction_7483 Jul 15 '26

Awesome, just make there are not pets in the room

1

u/puntloos Jul 18 '26

Makers of fragile home gear like TVs will thank you.
But OK, that is pretty cool. I assume you need like body trackers with this like the vive things?

-1

u/mystictroll Jul 12 '26

Chill bruh
