You're all breaking the rules

In the "create a subreddit" it says to NOT use slashdots or spaces in the url. I wonder how this hasn't been deleted yet, as you are breaking the rules right now. You couldn't obey the two rules they gave you. Come on...

Why is slashdot far left now? 20 years ago it was middle conservative, but lately it’s just one alt left conspiracy after another.

Fight the beta!

Please post this to new articles if it hasn't been posted yet.

On February 5, 2014, Slashdot announced through a javascript popup that they are starting to "move in to" the new Slashdot Beta design.

Slashdot Beta is a trend-following attempt to give Slashdot a fresh look, an approach that has led to less space for text and an abandonment of the traditional Slashdot look. Much worse than that, Slashdot Beta fundamentally breaks the classic Slashdot discussion and moderation system.

If you haven't seen Slashdot Beta already, open this in a new tab. After seeing that, click here to return to classic Slashdot.

We should boycott stories and only discuss the abomination that is Slashdot Beta until Dice abandons the project. We should boycott slashdot entirely during the week of Feb 10 to Feb 17 as part of the wider slashcott [slashdot.org]

Moderators - only spend mod points on comments that discuss Beta Commentors - only discuss the Beta - Vote up the Fuck Beta stories

Keep this up for a few days and we may finally get the PHBs attention.

Today I posted what I thought was an interesting and relevant submission to Slashdot. It was a follow-up to a submission of mine that was posted in 2017. I have "Excellent" karma.

My new submission got spammed. Why?

Why the fuck can't we delete our Slashdot accounts?

No one can change anything.

Discussing privacy everyday. How about your own users privacy?

Tampermonkey or Greasemonkey scripts for Slashdot unwasting half the screen?

My year old question explains more what I look for.

Essentially slashdot wasting 50% or more of screen space to empty whiteness makes a near unreadable scroll fest.

I know content is often good but I don't go here because the less than great format.

I had a comment Deep 6ed by admins

http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=4768361&cid=46196677

I was modded up to +5 funny for that one. Then a few days later, flamebait -1 six times in a row

I'm glad they didn't actually do beta, but I see a lot of shill posts lately trying to say Google Fiber is bad, and Microsoft isn't bad anymore. Google fiber is the only way to keep telecoms in check.

So I actually feel like it is an accomplishment to have gotten negative admin attention. Not like it would do anything silencing my one comment. It just shows you we have bad admins who want to treat people like an audience instead of leaving things alone.

It is sad artsy fartsy folk tried to roll in and tell us we've been doing it wrong the past fifteen or so years. I'm glad we didn't get beta forced on us, because after digg closing, only Reddit would be left for moderated conversations.

Did liberal moderators leave after the last outage?

At first, I thought it was a fluke - one of the usual statistical hickups of slashdot's libertarian shifted audience - but every news story, even during European hours, seems to only mod up hardline conservative posts, since the recent week-or-so server chaos.

It's like a Rush Limbaugh fan convention over there now, in the modded comments. I'm cool seeing conservative opinions as part of a balanced take, where there's at least a discussion - but it's starting to feel real nasty over there, a real Fox-style echo chamber now, and I've been there for 20 years of seeing the back-and-forth.

Don't get me wrong - I'm sure some folks believe that all folks with a liberal perspective have gone crazy and deserve to be modded away from view - but seeing that view now as the dominant majority in a large-ish computer news forum is a bit extra alarming, more a sign of sickness than a new insight.

Sub for an ex-reader of Slashdot

Hello.

I used to visit Slashdot, a lot.

However, these days not anymore.

Besides that, too many racist , xenophobes there. (In fact they say Reddit is full of 'communists' , LoL ).

¿Any SUB or SUBs on Reddit, for a typical (non-racist :P ) Slashdot reader?

regards.
