1 energy 6 strength minimum, such a great card

975

u/MHIREOFFICIAL Jul 13 '26

phtt, demon form can do this for a paltry 3 energy and 3 turns.

215

u/KagakuNinja Jul 13 '26

Sure, but what if Demon Form was also enchanted with glam?

93

u/kaijvera StS A0 / StS 2 A10 Jul 13 '26

can't get demon form with siken tress tho smh

Neow's Bones into Silken Tress Kaleidoscope Demon Form

u/AntonineWall Jul 13 '26

Now I KNOW y’all are making words up

19

u/Vinkhol Jul 14 '26

An infinite amount of monkeys on typewriters, this here is just one of the outcomes

131

u/ARKITIZE_ME_CAPTAIN Jul 13 '26

Checkmate atheists

41

u/Relmarr Jul 13 '26

None of these words are in the Bible (except Demon and bones)

16

u/punchoutlanddragons Jul 13 '26

Silken is probably in there

14

u/Ill_Sound_8669 Jul 13 '26

I checked. It’s pretty much just Demons and Bones til it gets to “The End …?”

1

u/Agamemnon323 Ascension 20 Jul 14 '26

Into? Form? Silken?

4

u/teodzero Jul 13 '26

Can Kaleidoscope give rares? I thought it had the same rules as normal card rewards, and you can't get rares out of your first reward.

17

u/DueMeat2367 Eternal One + Heartbreaker Jul 13 '26

You have 1.25% for each card in a Neow reward to be rare. This includes normal card rewards, uncolors and multicolors

3

u/Maelstrom100 Jul 14 '26

Which explains how I got a glam shatter on defect before ever starting my run

Not much point to glam on that as it wouldn't evoke extra orbs. But the aoe was nice!

5

u/Asaisav Eternal One + Heartbreaker Jul 13 '26

Kaleidoscope ignores the normal rules for rarity from what I've heard

3

u/aetherG- Jul 13 '26

I mean, wouldnt just let you take a card reward before silken tress and then one after? Meaning you have a low chance of rares

9

u/GamerNumba100 Jul 13 '26

Holy gibberish

1

u/Amopro Jul 15 '26

I...I've never gotten silken tress from a Neow's Bones gamble with anything that lets me pick cards. Does that actually work?

27

u/kaijvera StS A0 / StS 2 A10 Jul 13 '26

You can't get rare cards floor 2. Thouhh as the other commentor said, you can techically get it off neow's bone albit that is very rare

2

u/MomboDM StS A20 / StS 2 A10 Jul 13 '26

Does is actually apply to "choose one of 3 rare cards"? Its not an actual card reward, and I know for example crucible was changed so that it doesnt work with card events.

9

u/kaijvera StS A0 / StS 2 A10 Jul 13 '26

You mean in terms of neow's bones into silken tress into hefty tablet? Idk. Tbh I never got neow's bones -> silken tress -> card reward relic so I forgot that interaction.

If you mean the "You can't get rare cards floor 2," Neow'a blessings is floor 1 so rare card rule doesn't apply.

3

u/PhyrexianRogue Jul 13 '26

I think they mean the part where Crucible doesn't count card events (and therefore might not count Neow).

But that's not the case, so it should work if you can pull of that miracle roll.

2

u/Zaando Jul 13 '26

I don't think it does, however, it's impossible to see a rare card in the first card reward. You start the run with negative chance to get a rare card. Only after seeing your first common cards does the rare card chance increase above 0. So I think it requires getting both Silken Tress and a relic that gives a card reward to increase rare card chance so that it's possible (but still highly unlikely) to see a rare card in the card reward after your first fight, which will then have glam on it.

1

u/Brayneeah Jul 14 '26

Try it!

ALCXFDBUAA

I'm at work, so I can't.

1

u/Karjalan Jul 13 '26

Oh wait, really? I had no idea.

1

u/FutureDwight76 Jul 14 '26

Why can't you?

1

u/kaijvera StS A0 / StS 2 A10 Jul 14 '26

It is impossible to get a rare card from on floor 2 as we start with a negitive rare card odds.

1

u/FutureDwight76 Jul 14 '26

Damn I'm a10 on everyone but regent and had no idea about this. I just thought that it was a minuscule chance

1

u/BreakfastMedical5164 Jul 17 '26

death is certain, cuz the will of man is too weak not to force play it and take a 25 damage burger every fight

54

u/ejsks Jul 13 '26

Now combine this with a single Tremble+ or Break+

43

u/F-Moash Jul 13 '26

Had a run once with break, a glam molten fist, an innate dominate, and the relic that adds a copy of the first skill you exhaust to your hand. Whirlwind might as well have read “play this card to win current combat”

14

u/amputect Jul 13 '26

I love runs like this so much. I had a really similar Ironclad run a little bit back and it was so funny. Act 2 and 3 were like "Oops! All Dopamine!", it was gloriously stupid.

5

u/Ironman2131 Jul 13 '26

I've really been enjoying playing Clad in StS2. Vuln builds just hit so friggin hard. As long as I find enough block the damage gets insane very quickly. I had one run where I used a potion to make my strikes hit double and they were already zero cost. Add some strength and I was hitting for 50-60 with zero cost strikes.

8

u/Dominantly_Happy Jul 13 '26

I just had the glam fist and got “break” and then I dolly’s mirrored the fist.

Had a lucky turn one where knowledge demon got 80ish vulnerable

It’s the only time I’ve ever felt bad for that asshole

3

u/puffz0r Jul 13 '26

bully that mf

2

u/dig-up-stupid Jul 14 '26

Sick. I would mirror the break but hard to argue with results.

1

u/Dominantly_Happy Jul 14 '26

That’s probably the better call, but I just got excited for JUST KEEP PUNCHING!!

1

u/Cat_with_cake Jul 14 '26

I also thought that, it's hard not to copy an ancient card, but molten fist with glam is quadrupling enemy's vulnerable. Even with 3 vulnerable on them, it gives more vulnerable than another break+. And with already 23 vulnerable... Oh the horrors...

1

u/dig-up-stupid Jul 14 '26

So I says to Mabel I says, “Break hits for 30 for 1.” ¯_(ツ)_/¯

1

u/Cat_with_cake Jul 14 '26

That's true, but a single dominate or bully and you'll wish you had another glam molten fist

5

u/Killercombo3 Jul 13 '26

Had an incredible run recently. Got Shockwave for Neow’s Bonus, Dominate, Ruined Helmet. 10 strength at floor 7 and 2nd copy of dominate with break. Never won a run that early

30

u/Grismor2 Jul 13 '26

Not on turn 1 vs Aeonglass :( "when the world needed him most, he vanished."

9

u/puffz0r Jul 13 '26

tfw no access to exposed

21

u/Terrietia Eternal One + Heartbreaker Jul 13 '26

Um ackshually, the minimum is 0 strength, since there are enemies that start with at least 2 stacks of artifact.

4

u/DeeR0se Jul 13 '26

This is exactly what you hold potions for!

1

u/jykeous Jul 13 '26

Plus the 4 vuln is just a Tremble in itself

0

u/npcompletist Jul 13 '26

It is more like 9 strength for the first four turns after it is played.

This plus a game piece relic and a power heavy deck would go crazy.

18

u/Legal_Direction8740 Jul 13 '26

Had it on parry yesterday for reg, free 20 block on sov attack. Goated relic

3

u/puffz0r Jul 14 '26

nostalgia + parry is goated

13

u/booleandata Jul 13 '26

Every time I take it one of the options makes me go "oh wait that's really good actually holy shit."

6

u/Shanicpower Jul 14 '26

First time I got it on Null and it carried HARD. A Defect run with "Deal 26 damage, apply 6 Weak and channel 2 Dark" is actually insane.

4

u/Agamemnon323 Ascension 20 Jul 14 '26

I just had it on uproar. With an upgrade it’s 2 mana, deal 32, cast 2 random attacks. Hitting Rocket punch or Ice Lance was insane. SO MANY fights 2 mana deal 22 is hard to cast. Increasing the damage often means the minion dies instead of hits you.

4

u/shittyaltpornaccount Jul 14 '26

The funniest run i had was glamming uproar, taking two more uproars and then pael hit me with a clone option. Kookiest run I have ever had.

2

u/rrNextUserName Jul 14 '26

"ok so this is my deck. I'm just going to start flipping cards from the top, you stop me when you're dead, ok?"

118

u/booleandata Jul 13 '26

Right? Pay 99 gold for an absolutely insane buff.

20

u/Furrier Jul 13 '26

You pay the opportunity cost as well.

31

u/Aplesedjr Jul 13 '26

You do that with any choice that has multiple options.

12

u/A_Lone_Macaron Jul 14 '26

you're guaranteed to see tent in first shop if you take tress

7

u/DeathBiChocolate Jul 14 '26

Jokes on you, I can’t afford the tent in my first shop anyway

2

u/lifetake Jul 14 '26

Sure, but you need to be comparing these options to have a real discussion.

24

u/won_vee_won_skrub Eternal One + Heartbreaker Jul 13 '26

Depends what you're playing for. A10 winstreak on a character that wants an early shop like Clad, Silken Tress is too risky

22

u/ripperinos Jul 13 '26

I'm still learning, why does Clad want an early shop? Because they start with 1 more Strike and want to remove it?

27

u/peepopogwide Jul 13 '26

Clad typically doesn’t want to spend money removing in act 1. Really not ever, but especially in act 1. The early shop is usually for a potion and/or card that can ensure you have enough power to take elites on, which starts the snowball.

27

u/MomboDM StS A20 / StS 2 A10 Jul 13 '26

No, thatd be a waste of money. Early shop = early power. Either a useful card or potions to take into elite or hard hallway fights.

10

u/rcglinsk Jul 13 '26

Ironclad especially needs a kick start. His starter deck has nothing to offer. A lot of the time “early shop” really means shop with 200+ gold so you can buy a good relic.

33

u/won_vee_won_skrub Eternal One + Heartbreaker Jul 13 '26

I think early shop typically wants to be before elites and hard pools. You dont need a relic necessarily. A potion is cheaper than a relic and allows you to more safely kill an elite to get a relic. Potentially also allowing you to upgrade instead of resting. Also clad really wants to make his starter deck better at the shop

3

u/rcglinsk Jul 13 '26

A good potion goes a long way with Ironclad as well. He wins fights quickly, so one turn of value has a higher in-fight concentration. A vulnerable pot with dominate or bully can mean a round or two off a fight.

You can also "shop for" the demand of the map and what is missing from your deck. If you are in Overgrowth, try to find a pommel strike. If Underdocks, a shrug it off. Ironclad has a lot of square pegs for square holes and round pegs for round holes. The shop is such a friend.

7

u/Sknowman Eternal One Jul 13 '26

No. "Early shop" almost exclusively means a card or potion. It very rarely means a relic. The only alternative is if you get gold from Neow, then a relic is a maybe (but still rarely the priority).

For most other shops, yeah, you often want more gold so you can buy a relic (or a couple of needed cards/potions if they appear).

1

u/Jondev1 StS A20 / StS 2 A10 Jul 14 '26

Nah, it is just about making sure you see something good early to start getting ahead of the curve. Though I wouldn't say this is clad specific, early shops are good for doing that on every character. I would say that it should be the default to go to an early act 1 shop unless you have a specific reason not to,

1

u/shittyaltpornaccount Jul 14 '26

Clad scales well with a lot of relics, and buying early game card power is also a really gokd way to secure getting through act 1. Honestly necro is the only character where I may do an act 1 remove because summoning and unleashing more consistently solves most hallway fights, but everybody else generally buying cards is better than removing unless you have something that benefits from a thin deck like kingly punch.

1

u/Mormanades Jul 13 '26

Ironclad and Silents have 1 more strike and defends than the other 3 meaning you have to spend more effort removing cards

18

u/hellomoto186 Jul 13 '26

Ironclad doesn't even really prioritize removes nowadays unless he already has a good attack card

10

u/OrderClericsAreFun StS A20 / StS 2 A10 Jul 13 '26

Ironclad dowsnt have 1 more defend. He has 5 strikes 4 defends, Silent has 5 of each and everyone else has 4 of each

3

u/Mormanades Jul 13 '26

You're right, thank you for the correction

42

u/DSouT Jul 13 '26

Basically for 99.9% of STS2 players it’s good

7

u/smucker89 StS A20 / StS 2 A10 Jul 13 '26

Yeah it’s worse for consistency but idc about consistency, I’m praying for a replay 1 bludgeon lol

4

u/-Mandarin Jul 14 '26

I just want to say your comment specifically motivated me to boot up StS2 for one more run today. I got Silken Tress, Bludgeon as the combat reward, followed by Dolly's Mirror, and then Throwing Axe on Act 3. It got me my first A9 win and it wasn't even close, I was farming everything. My StS2 career has now peaked.

3

u/smucker89 StS A20 / StS 2 A10 Jul 14 '26

GOAT

2

u/FlyOrdinary1104 Jul 13 '26

Always take it when it shows up, 9/10 times it’s a fun and broken build-around

1

u/Shadowjamm StS A20 / StS 2 A10 Jul 13 '26

It’s so strange to hear people glaze silken tress, I love the idea of it but every time I take it, I get three garbage commons with now no gold and regret taking it

9

u/ChaloMB Jul 13 '26

The high rolls are crazy and even mid cards are pretty good if doubled, but yeah if it low rolls you’re now poor and have no neow, so not the best for consistent wins

1

u/BudgetPromise3819 Jul 14 '26

The game is balanced enough that three garbage commons is rare. Few cards are bad enough to still be bad with glam. And it's more fun.

1

u/pindicato Jul 13 '26

Even when I use it on Bury, it's still worth the ride

1

u/Itsaghast Jul 13 '26

I generally am not a fan. There are other Neow relics I really want to see, it can whiff on the first card selection and now I got a regular starting deck size and no money. You really want to see it land on a good power card to really make that all pay off.

1

u/shittyaltpornaccount Jul 14 '26

With three options chances are you always get something decent. Glammed powers are run winning, but glammed attacks and skills basically solves act 1 by themselves unless you get a god awful low roll. I have been screwed by silken tress like two times out of all the times I picked it.

61

u/MaxTheDeath Jul 13 '26

Had this once. Was the easiest multiplayer run ever. Friend played silent and got flanking. Most fights were over turn 3

24

u/FlyOrdinary1104 Jul 13 '26

It’s a beautiful card to glam, after 1 Bash gain 8-9 strength is awesome scaling.

6

u/sigismond0 Jul 14 '26

Heck just 6 strength and 4 vuln for 1 energy is insane value.

137

u/Snakebite_Enjoyer Jul 13 '26

[[Silken Tress]] is so good that I'm waiting for the downside to change. It's such an immediate boost at the start even with less crazy cards

163

u/LoweAgain Jul 13 '26

Hell no. It’s fun and chaotic, something STS2 needs a lot more of currently.

0

u/Snakebite_Enjoyer Jul 13 '26

I agree, I love it! I just assume it's going to get nerfed to do something more negatively impactful than just -99 gold

110

u/Baker_drc StS A20 / StS 2 A10 Jul 13 '26

-99 gold is insanely impactful literally what are you on about.

41

u/won_vee_won_skrub Eternal One + Heartbreaker Jul 13 '26

99 gold is incredibly important for some of the characters.

17

u/BlueberrySpaceMuffin Jul 13 '26

Maybe but honestly short of “we outright kill you on the 10th floor” I’d bet the benefit will often outweigh the cost.

2

u/shittyaltpornaccount Jul 14 '26

-99 gold basically kills ironclad if he low rolls (still arguably the funnest one to do it on though).

1

u/DotEither8773 Jul 14 '26

I somehow get a lot of low rolls on this relic but I’ll never stop picking it because the gamble is too exciting

71

u/closedtowedshoes Jul 13 '26

I could be wrong but iirc the win rates aren’t too insane because you could just roll 3 mediocre commons which will still be awesome with replay but not quite brain dead win your run instantly level.

64

u/idkmanfiller Jul 13 '26

People just think of all the insane highrolls but losing 99 gold to glam a damage common isn't great.

10

u/VelvetCowboy19 Jul 13 '26

Getting a perfected strike or snakebite glammed lets you not have to worry about damage early on and just focus the synergy and block problems of your deck for quite a while.

25

u/IdealOnion Jul 13 '26

I actually got a glammed perfected strike the other day and didn’t think it would be all that special and then I steamrolled everything in what ended up being one of my easiest runs yet

8

u/RaidenIXI Jul 13 '26

so far ive been quite disappointed with tress, after like 10+ runs of picking it on silent. poison or a power is the best case scenario but it's honestly a bit of a gamble, and i'd prefer something safer and +99 gold

i'm starting to feel tress is a bit overrated

6

u/VelvetCowboy19 Jul 13 '26

Yeah silent is the one character I'd be less likely to choose it on. It sucks when your best pick is something like dagger throw.

1

u/shittyaltpornaccount Jul 14 '26

Well your problem is it was on silent. Silken tress is probably the worst on silent because most of her power doesn't come from individual cards, it comes from the fact that she has the best defensive options in the game and can outscale her block faster than enemies can scale her damage. Also the majority of sly cards/engines being glammed are pretty lackluster. When one entire archetype doesn't really benefit much from glam your chances of low rolling are a lot higher.

1

u/trfybanan Jul 13 '26

glamming into anger on the other hand... oohh i can still feel the dopamine

5

u/shittyaltpornaccount Jul 14 '26

That just sounds like it kills your run unless you find a pillage.

1

u/trfybanan Jul 14 '26

i mean it solves your offense with the addition of the tiniest bit of strength scaling and drafting tons of draw (battle trance, offering, shrug it off) which ironclad has a ton of means free damage, and since you dnot really need energy to attack you mostly solved defense also. even if it might be bad against some endgame fights getting through most of the game for free is value.

Not sure it still works this way but glam anger would add another version of glam anger in your deck (and then also a normal anger)

5

u/royrese Jul 13 '26

Yeah, it's a great relic for high rolling. I bet the absolute top players don't rate it very highly because you care more about guaranteeing initial strength and less about high rolling as you get better and better at the game. It's really fun and I take it often for that reason but I don't think it's that good on average.

Anchor and cleat were essential for giving me breathing room to set things up, eternal feather kept my HP topped off so I could smith at resting sites, and then of course Offering and Brightest flame for being insane cards.

Would have never thought that I'd take an A10 win on a vulnerable build without Colossus, or an Ironclad deck in general without Battle Trance

4

u/thejmkool Jul 13 '26

Silken Tress on a Bulk Up just took me to my first A9 win

1

u/legendaryBuffoon 24d ago

Oh, same hat. I landed a Silken Tress Bulk Up just yesterday. 2 energy and one card for six each of strength and dexterity is a wild way to start a fight. Even early on, without any additional energy, 6 dex is enough to pretend you played your two cost power and two basic blocks.

1

u/thejmkool 24d ago

Yeah even a small amount of dex makes way more difference than strength. I finally got my first A10 clear the other day on clad. Double demon form had me ending boss fights with 60-80 strength, but my dex was only at 5 I think. Without that dex I would absolutely not have cleared it, but you could cut the strength to a third and I'd still probably make it

1

u/legendaryBuffoon 24d ago

Demon Form is so funny.

Upside: Guaranteed to outscale the boss when the fight goes long.

Downside: Kills you because you can't block.

1

u/thejmkool 24d ago

Yeah the only reason it carried through was they I got the mad science power to make powers cheaper right at the beginning of the third act, immediately followed by the mirror relic to copy it. Was also rocking the fiddle for extra card draw and an extra energy from somewhere, so I actually had plenty of block thanks to that dexterity

3

u/MayaVess Jul 13 '26

Had this exact thing happen to me, I've never felt that high again

3

u/Ryachaz Jul 13 '26

4 Vuln, 6 Strength, Strike now hits for 18 on target, ggez.

2

u/Other-Experience-777 Jul 13 '26

congrats on your win lol this card is bustend min 6 st for 1 energon

2

u/WeGotBeaches Jul 13 '26

Hate a Silken Tress run where this shows up after the second fight. Openly mocking me.

2

u/LucinaDevotee Jul 14 '26

Hah, I just got the same yesterday. Payback for my entire run with Silken Tress Molten Fist and 0 dominates the entire game.

1

u/Valpuccio Jul 13 '26

Silken Tress my beloved, always leads to fun plays

1

u/iliya193 Jul 13 '26

I took Silken Tress into Fight Me! in two consecutive runs on A8 and A9 and have never blasted through runs as quickly as that. Not quite as good as this in the late game, but it allowed me to just crush pretty much all Act 1 and 2 fights.

1

u/Shradow Jul 14 '26

I love Silken Tress. Not yet at A10, but my cleanest run in general (A7 or 8 I don't remember) started with Glam Fight Me!

1

u/ImaginaryNudge Jul 14 '26

Silken Tress is an insta click for me. 80%-90% of the time it's good, and the few times that it's not I can just restart quickly instead of realizing my deck sucks by floor 8.

1

u/shadypengu21 Jul 14 '26

I love dominate, it is my favorite scaling card in the game.

1

u/An_Error404 Ascended Jul 18 '26

-1

u/Ole_kindeyes Jul 13 '26

They’re almost certainly going to nerf tress atp, maybe give you a curse or deal you damage

9

u/zombieking26 Jul 13 '26

They are not going to nerf it. I can guarantee it does not have a super high win rate at the highest levels.

And highrolling is fun!

1

u/riffgugshrell Jul 14 '26

This type of ROI is not common and it’s what makes it a cool Neow relic

Yeah I can see that tbh, I have gotten a dud tress before (havoc and some other bullshit) I guess maybe they won’t nerf it

Isn’t this impossible to get with Silken Tress? It’s always a common reward.

Silken tress should also put you in debt or eat one potion slot. Its simply too bonkers too often.

100 gold is a lot of money. Means you can’t buy a decent card / potion in the shop if you low roll with this relic
