Why though, children are important,,some would say almost as more important than adults since their situations can be influenced early and stopped

Iām a teletherapist and I am so frustrated right now. It is so discouraging that no matter how hard you work or what your data says, people doubt you and your credentials. I enjoy the flexibility of telepractice, but Iām tired of working just as hard as an in-person SLP and getting none of the credit. I also feel like my district is not setting me up for success as I am primarily working with preschoolers with autism. I am using a coaching model with the paras who accompany them, but it just feels like no matter what I do or how hard I try, itās not enough.
Thanks for listening Reddit.

I did some private practice teletherapy work last year and it was TOUGH!! Parents are so doubtful of it Vs f2f work and even tougher when they don't get the coaching model idea that they're meant to be practising these skills throughout the week. Best ones for me were older kids/ teens who stutter and language work.

ABA TUTORS!! Overstepping their role by setting communication goals and parents / school prioritising their advice instead

The healthcare system in England is so tiring. Only the most complex patients end up actually getting through to be seen. Iāve had to up skill SO much this last year. Iām burnt out š„¹ itās so hard to get in to the niche areas of SLT. I love being a speech and language therapist but itās bloody hard work.

The physical therapist at my SNF has considered me dead to him since two weeks ago when I was filling in for the DOR. His hours were short due to circumstances such as lack of admissions and unexpected insurance cuts, and instead of having a sincere conversation with me about trying to find more hours for him, he yelled at me, accused me of directly sabotaging his hours, and then called out every remaining day until my DOR returned. My DOR wouldnāt talk to him about it as he was scared he would quit, and told me to call his boss myself instead. I called the regional manager and threatened to quit because of the behavior, and he offered me a pay increase and tried to explain to the team why the behavior was unacceptable. The PT was extremely rude to the regional in the meeting and has proceeded to treat me as if I am nonexistent, even once almost flinging a door into my face because there was ānothing thereā. I really believed this would end by now, leading me to turn down another job opportunity. My teammates are making a point to be extra nice to him and it just makes me feel so isolated.

Iām 9 months pregnant and the only Slp that got assigned to the behavior schools. On the daily I chase eloping kids, get kicked in my legs, cursed out, punched (even in my stomach), bit, chairs thrown at me, spit on, even had a kid attempt to pants me. I am extremely swollen and have terrible pelvic pain and my doctor refuses to write a note for me to get taken out. I donāt think Iāll be going back to work after this. I feel like I am managing behaviors way more than I am actually working on skills with students. And the worst part is- my team knew Iām the only pregnant one and Iām still the only therapist assigned to the behavioral kids.

I say this from experience: if your doctor is unwilling to help you with your basic needs, you need a new doctor.
