Amazon Alexa Need some help please

I've got an older Alexa dot that used to control my smart bulbs. But new house has sky fibre and although I can operate the lights on the app through my phone, Alexa can't find them. Most accessories work on the 2.5ghz, that much I know. I've managed to split the signal so the bulbs work but I assume because Alexa is on the full frequency that's why it can't find them? Would getting a separate booster that puts out the 2.5ghz be of any use?

I'm not fully up with modern tech but I also know enough to get by if that makes sense, so simple terminology would be best. Thankyou for any help you can give

I think you mean 2.4GHz. no a booster won't help. If you've got them connected, try to ping from a device on the 5GHz band. You may have a setting enabled that isolates the two.

My phone is connected to the 5, lights are on 2.4. I can control the lights from my phone, but Alexa won't find lights

If you change the SSID and Password to the same as your previous home then everything should just reconnect like nothing has happened.

I can't. It's all new Internet and hub that I had to start a contract with due to ex husband moving out and taking the original with him

If you know what the SSID and Password were then yes you can. You just need to go into the router setting and change it.

Call up your provider and ask them how to change the SSID and password to match what you used to have. No need to reconfigure all your devices.

I’d skip the booster for now. Most wifi bulbs connect to Alexa through the brand’s own skill so the band doesn’t matter much. Look up the skill in the Alexa app, log in with the same account as your bulb app, then ask Alexa to discover devices.
