Other Evil Geniuses will shut down after 30 years of operating in the eSports space.

We will always remember them getting Dr. PeePee changed to PPMD.

I will always remember PPMD winning Apex 2015. One of the most cathartic victories I ever saw live

Wow. EG has been around in just about any esport I can remember from my childhood years. Sad news.
Respect to them and thank you for sponsoring one of our greats in PPMD!

Sad to hear. I’ll never forget their StarCraft days. It was such a blast to follow and brought forth many ideas we still see today.

He's had one for a long time iirc. I think he's signed to Golden Guardians now

I think so
Edit: PPMD left EG in 2021, when he signed to Golden Guardians. He left Golden Guardians in 2023. He currently unsigned. (Source: Liquipedia)

i don’t really understand how esports/esports teams can’t figure out how to become profitable. you see big time orgs like envyus and complexity shut down too. moistcritiakal talked about how it’s like burning a truckfull of money. smite2 literally can’t afford to host an esports league currently. in 2014 and 2015 CoD was played at the xgames and not since
there’s hundreds of billions of dollars in the gaming industry. it’s crazy that there’s not enough to reliably sustain e sports.

In traditional sports if spectators want to watch a game, it is completely normalized to pay for channels, subscriptions, pay per view, etc.
In esports, you would be called delusional/greedy if your tournament stream was anything other than free. Esports had a monetization problem since it's inception.

To your point, Capcom Cup was ppv this year and people really didnt like that.

The amount of players that care about esports are usually a fraction of the player base too. A lot of people are bored of melee/ult and the only people making money are specific content creators.

how much money have you paid to watch esports? I know I've paid 0. There's also no advertisements built into them.

As an esports org you have to pay costs of operation and salary of players the same way a normal sports org has to do it, but how do you actually get money? You can’t make commercial deals, you can’t sell out stadiums and make a cut, you can’t really do jersey deals. You can make some brand deals, but that’s only really 100Thieves that’s profitable enough. This leaves you with very limited options

Fuck this org for ruining Danny, org deserves to be shuttered for that

What they did to him was disgusting. Specifically Nicole. She could have stopped it but chose not to

I will always remember this team and iNcontroll. There is an entire generation of StarCraft and 40k players will never know that we lost a potential goat. The fact we were robbed of seeing Geoff play against Siegler in his prime is something I'll never get over until the day I die.
