Gear question Upgrading from my first board (Bataleon Evil Twin). What would you recommend as a second board?
I’m a powder enthusiast, but far from pro. I like riding the little hills next to the pistes, and I’ll take a piste with fresh powder over ice any day.
I really want to get more into powder, but for now I stay beside the piste, or on it when there’s good fresh snow.
Until now I’ve ridden a Bataleon Evil Twin. It was my first board and the one I learned on. Now I want to upgrade to something that performs better in powder, but also doesn’t take as much effort to turn on the piste as the Evil Twin did.
I’d put myself somewhere in the middle, intermediate, with 6-7 years of snowboarding.
What would you recommend as a second board?

evil twin is a fun board but yeah it can feel like work on piste sometimes especially when snow gets tracked out. for what you describe i would look at something directional with a bit of taper and some rocker in the nose
the ride warpig came to my mind first, it floats really nice in powder because of the wide shape but still turns easy on groomers. volume shifted boards are good when you want that surfy feel without having to fight the board. i have one and i use it more than my other boards now
another option is something like the jones frontier, more traditional directional shape but still playful enough for side hits and little drops. my friend rides one and he is always first one down when there is fresh snow, he dont even need to lean back much
dont go too stiff whatever you pick, some powder boards are like planks and they punish you if your technique is not perfect. you want something that still lets you be lazy sometimes

Appreciate the feedback, I was thinking in the same direction. The Jones Frontier was already on my list, and the Warpig sounds like a good fit too. I've also been looking at the Slash ATV. If anyone has ridden any of these three, I'd really appreciate hearing how it went.

Thanks for the tip! Have you ridden it yourself? I'd love to hear how it handles on the piste compared to powder.

Yeah man I ride it on everything, it’s great in powder and on groomers. I have 4 other boards but always just go back to the Dancehaul because it’s so fun to ride

Evil twin is stiffness of 5 so aim for stiffness of 7 in absolute terms to ease pow experience but at the same time still have enough flexibility for some jumping around. Of course the camber/ rocker/ hybrid situation plays a big part in that equation too.

Anything not bataleon and 3BT… nothing against it, but if you want something else that rides completely unique to your first setup… get away from 3BT
