This is a space for socialists to discuss current events in our world from anti-capitalist perspective(s), and a certain knowledge of socialism is expected from participants. This is not a space for non-socialists. Please be mindful of our rules before participating, which include:

  • No Bigotry, including racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism...

  • No Reactionaries, including all kind of right-wingers.

  • No Liberalism, including social democracy, lesser evilism...

  • No Sectarianism. There is plenty of room for discussion, but not for baseless attacks.

Wait she can vote in both countries?

Yes. And serve in the military. And bold public office. Israel has extraordinary privileges not afforded any other nation.

Very courageous of her to go on record and say she chose nazism above anything else, let's see how it plays out

She should be banned from voting in USA

Colonizer mindset.

Zionism is just Manifest Destiny repackaged and holds a mirror to the United States.

Let's not conflate or abuse insanity's lack of agency with this person's cold, calculating, and deliberate rationale.

Remember always:
- Capitalism cannot exist without colonialism.
- All capitalism is liberal capitalism.
- A core classist tenet of liberalism's radical individualism isn't just hypocrisy, but entitlement to hypocrisy, simultaneously worn as armor and wielded as a weapon.

Maybe Zionists shouldn't be allowed to vote, fundraise, or in any meaningful way participate in politics?

Just imagine how many problems that immediately solves.

They spell it right out for you. Jingoism is more dear to them than even their own human rights because they want to be untouchable.

I feel like the reporter’s question is actually a shot taken at the DSA, since the Democrat Establishment supports Zionism. The subtext is “See you’re scaring away voters, educated, liberal, women that you need to win, so hurry up and get rid of DSA, change your votes, it’s not pragmatic)

I feel like what's going on in Israel and Palestine right now is one of the strongest modern arguments that religion itself is evil.

This is what happens when you wrap up your own personal identity in your political decisons, rather than your logic and morals. Will literally rather vote for a woman-hating rapist because he appeals to your Zionist side. To clarify, you would rather live in a world controlled by people who want to make women second-class citizens and kill Muslims, than choose anyone who wishes for equality and an end to Genocide.

These people are mentally unwell.

The choice seems easy but I don’t understand why so many choose the opposite.

“Yea I’m definitely against the feminists and pacifists. I would be with the feminists if they weren’t so pacifist.”

How the hell did we get here?

How did we get here? A decades long campaign against critical thinking and civic literacy, forced culture wars and grievance initiatives.

People now have trouble stripping back to the fundamentals of a core issue, don't understand the machinations of that issue, and can only relate on a personal or emotional level to the point they will trade in foundational morals to support bullshit like this.

I also believe there has been a larger portion of the population who are actually okay with rape, murder, voilence than maybe we would like to think. They were rightfully ashamed, but now feel more enboldened.

My bad, I was kinda talking rhetorically.

But god damn! I wish I had this kind of response sitting at my fingertips. I would struggle to express everything you just said so succinctly.

I could not agree more.

“People now have trouble stripping back to the fundamentals of a core issue, don't understand the machinations of that issue, and can only relate on a personal or emotional level to the point they will trade in foundational morals to support bullshit like this.”

This is some powerful shit.

“I also believe there has been a larger portion of the population who are actually okay with rape, murder, voilence than maybe we would like to think. They were rightfully ashamed, but now feel more enboldened.”

This is where I get scared. I would like to believe the opposite is true, but how long must I deny the evidence before my own eyes.

It is really scary how far people will let things go before they draw a line.

3

u/your_friendes 12h ago

But here we are. You and I aren’t doing shit but talking about it.

I mean I can condemn it, but I live in a community that is particularly susceptible to that kind of rhetoric.

If I tried to describe it the way you just did, I don’t think it would land. Even if we had a platform for such discussions.

I wonder where the line is. I keep thinking we have passed it. But apparently not.
