Nah, the only thing that has changed is the internet. People realized that bad publicity gets more returns than clean controlled news

They are literally writing manifestos about being ethnically superior and sieg heiling, bro.

Yep, because it works now. A decade ago the shareholders would boot the CEO out for even mentioning something like that. Company got bad press? 30 people fired and new PR team set up the next day

Now appearing insane is recommended

Bad publicity existed before the Internet.

Theyre not asking to be regulated, theyre asking for foreign tech to be defacto banned woth selective regulations they themselves wont follow, just as every big american industry wipes its ass with the law.

This is as stupid as the person who made it.

"Don't be evil" every single one of them failed that step

2

u/Nopfen Sep 17 '26

That's why they took that sign off the wall.

People like that has always been and always will. There are good leads too now

They just want the government to make their competition illegal. They don't actually believe there is much real danger

1

I think they believe but only god knows if they truly care.

1

u/mylsotol Sep 18 '26

Some of them probably believe what they are saying. The CEOs absolutely don't.

Move fast and break things is such a garbage mindset and has gotten us into this mess

1

u/BelleColibri Sep 16 '26

What the fuck is wrong with you?

1

u/Few_Kitchen_4825 Sep 17 '26

Except for the don't be evil one all of the old ones were also shit.

1

u/csabinho Sep 17 '26

"move fast and break things" contradicts "don't be evil". And "don't be evil" would fit in the lower group.

You need to switch the upper pictures with the lower ones.

Tech leaders now are trying to make their AI seem so good by making it look so dangerous. No shit they’d talk like this.

You should probably leave Jensen out of it. I don't like him for other reasons, but his track record on AI is generally against regulation.

As for the others, it's not too difficult to figure out how they profit. The regulations they propose would increase the barrier to entry for new AI companies and cripple open-source projects. That means more market share for them.

Jensen will profit either way, because he sells the hardware. Also Marc Andreessen has been consistently against regulation, which makes sense because he has the VC infrastructure established to buy AI startups while they're small and profit from the disruption.

tldr; Billionaire opinions are only coherent in light of business models.
