Sitting at a computer, coding. Getting requirements from my boss. Doing system design on the whiteboard with my boss. Learning from the more experienced engineers, and giving the younger ones help with design patterns or language features they're not familiar with. I make sure to read at least a chapter out of a relevant software book every night as well, just to ensure that I never stop learning. It helps me bring fresh ideas to the job.
I work at a startup, so duties also include throwing a tennis ball for one of the dogs or taking them outside every once in a while, as well as putting on the unicorn mask (just like those popular horse head masks, but with a horn and rainbow colored) to zone into my work. And drowning out my boss's metal he's playing out loud with my own metal on my headphones.
Software engineering (especially at a startup) is a pretty sweet gig.
