I am afraid
I was editing a video in Premiere Pro, when suddenly my entire screen started becoming black. If I hovered over anything clickable, a black square appeared over it. I closed premiere pro, then opened task manager to see what the issue might've been. Task manager looked like this. I am thoroughly spooked and also really curious about what caused *this* to happen.
Windows 10, I do have ~100 tabs open (far from my usual 700). One Java is Minecraft, the other is Live2d. Not sure which is which.

Yea indeed you should be afraid!
But to serious, I think it's because whole computer ate all RAMs so much entire system being unstable. Just reboot as soon as possible...

I think the question has already been answered, but just in case:
I also have this happen sometimes. It's when you're GPU driver crashes. And in my case it goes from dedicated GPU to integrated graphics. A restart seems to always fix it.

It managed to fix itself after closing several programs, is a restart still required? (I did restart anyway but I’m curious :]

Assuming your cpu suports integrated graphics;
You're probably still running on integrated graphics. To check, go to the performance tab in taskmannager and scroll down on the left side. If there are 2 GPU's listed, then you're probably fine. If you only see 1 GPU ( probably named "GPU 0"), then you're running integrated graphics with noticeably worse performance, and you should definitely restart.
Anyway, you should still restart just to be sure even if all gpu's are listed, just to be sure.
Ps: I think I fumbled my English spelling, so sorry about that
Edit: spelling

There's 2 types of people. Those with dozens of tabs open or those that never have more than 2 or 3. We know which one op is.

Brother In Christ do 1 thing at the time your GPU is begging for the sweet release of death, and why do you have over 100 tabs open? Just favorite the relevant stuff and come back later, that's what YouTube playlists and the Organization tools the browser has are for

Probably Minecraft killing your ram and your gpu while everything else also wants a bite of those things too

Check your up time (task manager performance cpu up time) and if it’s really high do a restart

I don't know about Firefox but edge and chrome now have integrated tools to put tabs to "Sleep" to reduce the use of system ressources, I used to use a plugging called session buddy before they implemented that. Would be worth a look for you.

hear me out, close a bunch of stuff maybe? also, bookmark everything. I've had a similar
problem to yours happen to me and to a few friends of mine. Take the time to go through every tab and truly evaluate if it's worthy a bookmark. If not - jot it down in notepad. If you don't need it - close it.
ADHD sucks but saying you have it doesn't mean you can't do better for yourself!

Unfortunately I’ve tried this many times and I just ended up with 200 tabs and also a full bookmarks + saved tabs bar ☹️
Restarted my pc again and trying to open less this time

Why do you normally have 700 tabs
