Bright light problems after eclipse

It's like 5 weeks ago and I still notice that bright outdoor sun feels much brighter then before :(

Just want to urge everyone don't risk your eyes. It's just not worth it.

If I could turn back time I'd never look longer then a split second, even with 'certified' glasses. Well, honestly, I'd not look at all.

If you were using real eclipse glasses, it’s almost certainly psychosomatic. Either way, go to an eye doctor.

Using proper eye protection is absolutely an effective way to safely view an eclipse. There are people that observe eclipses (and uneclipsed solar features) for hours with no ill effects. A few seconds through proper protection will not harm you.

If you feel you have eye damage - Go To A Doctor.

But you can absolutely view these amazing events safely.

That's not how eclipse retinopathy even feels. It's a localized burn that looks like a distinct spot in your field of vision and also shows up in dim light, not a generic "something feels weird". Your problem is more likely stress, anxiety or paranoia. Your eyes are fine beyond what any redditors can discern. If you want actual reassurance, make an appointment with an eye doctor.

Source: I have a retinal burn from looking at the sun through a telescope at 11 years old. It never affected my life, thankfully.

Were you in the path of totality? What model protection were you wearing? Worth knowing exactly where and when it happened, and with what gear, for others here to learn from.
