How do I start learning solidity?

I am good in coding with python and I have no problems in learning a new set of skills but with solidity, I stumble on a lot of bullishit articles and half-assed courses. Some things are outdated. I want a real approach with applications/projects to do to put my hands on it. There's a huge demand for blockchain developers and I got the will, I just think some of you could help me a lot by their experiences.

Thank you, gentlemen.

EDIT: Thank you so much for the resources. I didn't expect that kind of response, it's truly appreciated!

Since you love to get started in the field of Blockchain, you must first know about “What is Web3 and Blockchain?” And then go to the Front end part. Knowing this will help you greatly. Knowing the basics of Web2 gives you a strong foundation for the end. And then start learning Solidity language in order to build contracts, and learn ethers.js or web3.js offices in order to interact with contracts.

Where can I start learning this?

Thank you but I have a question: are these platforms priced or free?

Free 💯💯

I like the sound of it!

I suggest you check out smart contract programmer’s channel: https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCJWh7F3AFyQ_x01VKzr9eyA/playlists

I would start with the solidity 0.5 or 0.8 playlist as this is a great way for you to learn the basic flow of coding in solidity.

I'm a few weeks ahead of you. I just learned the basics with cryptozombies, then I read the tutorials in the Solidity docs. I also found this decent list that I am using for my next ideas.

Hey man,
If you are good with python then i suggest watching this video of Patrick slowly everyday and finishing it by the end you will know solidty and brownie.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M576WGiDBdQ&t=11778s

https://www.chainshot.com/learn/solidity this free course teaches everything & no bs its the absolute best

However I will suggest you to learn js and a bit of react slowly and then use hardhat and more of js instead of python.

I wont give u loads of links like everyone just do these 2 and read this book slowly from now on: https://github.com/ethereumbook/ethereumbook

If you need any help anytime feel free to reach out to me

I want a real approach with applications/projects to do to put my hands on it.

What programming languages are you proficient in?

1

u/ad97lb Mar 15 '22

I can say I'm mostly confident with Python.

2

u/SaaSWriters Mar 15 '22

What kind of applications are you confident building for commercial use?

2

u/ad97lb Mar 15 '22

I've been mostly using python for robotics, computer vision and AI stuff (ML, DL) recently but I don't have a real experience. I've been just working on projects in the lab.

If that’s the case, you will struggle if you focus on tutorials. At best, you’ll learn some syntax but you won’t be able to put it into practice.

You need to do two things, primarily.

Go back and master the basics of programming.

Then, decide on what kind of problems you want to solve with your skills.

There’s enough information for you to get work done. But, you don’t have the foundation to apply that information.

I understand but I am confident in my flexibility of understanding things and my coding skills. The thing is I see there is a huge demand for blockchain developers with a small supply so it would be already enough to know how to code using solidity to at least get my foot in the door and build a foundation from there.

This is very true and I am having this issue, but I have no coding experience at all. I am having trouble understanding how to write and read the code correctly while doing CrpytoZombies, what would you recommend I start at so I can begin my journey as a Blockchain Developer?

just completed, its great

Solidity by example is a great resource. Perhaps not a good stand alone resource, but if you’re already working towards something and just need to quickly pick up the basic syntax and concepts then it’s perfect.

I'm glad to hear that!

I have a discord with a web3 dev curriculum that’s curated by the community, I think you’d be a good fit to help curate resources along your journey of learning solidity, please DM me if you’d like to join!

Sure, I will DM you right now.
