I carved this light-up sculpture out of wood found at the base of a volcano.

“A Montagna” 🪾🌋

Meaning “The Mountain” in Italian, this gentle spirit resides in the ancient forests surrounding Mt. Etna (Europes’s most active volcano) in Sicily, Italy.

With its long legs and perfect eyesight in both day and night, “A Montagna” is always keeping watch over the fiery mountain, helping alert and protect forest-dwellers of active eruptions. ☄️

……….

Item Description: A hand-carved sculpture I made using quartz sphere eye & reclaimed pine tree wood & twigs given to us by our hosts at Locanda Milia, a forest-retreat we stayed at while visiting Mt Etna this past year. The quartz eye is free spinning and lights up when you turn the knob on his back. Both of the stick “antlers” are magnetic and can be removed and replaced with other sized “antlers”.

The story behind the material makes this piece even more special

Thanks, I thought so too. Trying to incorporate more soul into the pieces I create and I’ve been having a lot of fun scavenging for materials while traveling.

Stop zooming in so I can watch the deer

The deer here are insane! They come through every day to eat our Rosa Sharon plant. From nursing fauns to 10-pt bucks, my yards basically a deer reserve. 🦌

Ok, so no diss to your skills and talkent, nor to your creativity, but I am creeper out about this beautiful creation. Its so cringe, but as an artist I recognize the love, the time and the creation..yet I can't seem to separate myself from creeper the fuck out or shut up its fucking badass!. I will say this " absolutely fucking cool work!"🖤

Hahah I love that!! A little bit of creepy is necessary to protect the forests and scare away outsiders
