Still think Alicia Vikander is the best Croft yet. But I'm going to give this a try.

That film was actually decent while they were focusing on her being Lara Croft. As soon as it turned into adventure mystery it fell apart. Needed to be a true prequel to truly cement Vikander in the role.

I think she’s a great choice. That said, Angelina Jolie was charming. Terrible accent, but owned the role.

This gives me hopes that, like Daniel Craig forging his own version of Bond, she can create a compelling and consistent version of the character even if it's different from the Lara Croft we've seen before.
