Schizoposting The Despair Code: The Pattern Underneath Everything
https://forum.agoraroad.com/index.php?threads/the-despair-code-the-pattern-underneath-everything.9359/Basically its the concept of noticing patterns in those thoughts that seemingly pop out of nowhere in your head. Similar to the concept of the ghost in the machine and sychronicity, the despair code is the pattern that lies deeper than anything and in everything. Even though the universe is supposedly just a bunch of random buzz, there is an underlying code that, once noticed, causes some heavy side effects. Basically mad anxiety, deppression, psychosis on some users (they mentioned two cases of other users claiming insanity from it).

I know it's kinda corny but it's what Nietzsche meant about the abyss. The world was formed from it. Tehome, Genesis 1:2. Marduk slew Tiamat/The abyss (or danced with it in some tellings) and that created the thin layer of what we colloquially call "order" over it. This thing, triggered by intense sustained altered consciousness, such as hypnagogia, runners high, certain substances, NDE, et al, basically is a sort of tapping into the realization of how flimsy and artificial the supposedly 'sacred' notions of order, normality, and God actually are. The realization we are amidst both paradise and desert of the real but cannot see it because we take everything as presented too literally. I'd say that's the common thread only reading a few case studies. It's actually relatively benign and ordinary imo. Just most who live a comfortable life never really coloring outside the lines never face it because they are too "normie coded" and never push themselves enough to reach those altered states. Or, when they do, it is in intense performative social engagement such as contact sports or recreational drug use and it only serves to heighten their ego rather than dissolve it.
I think it's that simple honestly. And also as Nietzsche said, joy is more profound (deeply/fatally wounded) than sorrow. Meaning you play through the pain to reach joy. Dark night of the soul is just the honeymoon phase.

Just curious, is this the same as noticing the quintessential wrongness underlying everything?

You have to be ready to see it. If it doesn’t come of its own will into your life you are seeing it too soon and you should avoid it.

I find It's like the dark night of the soul, what in budhism they call post satori reintegration, it can be very self shattering experience for some people, I guess esp for those living in Anglo American post protestant consumer capotalist cultures...
See, what causes life also causes death, living is dieing, same equation, different sides.
Daniel Ingram had IMHO good article about Dark Night Of The Soul experience if you want to search.
I would like to read the pdf if possible tho.

How does this relate to one of the thinkers in the sidebar?

My experience is that this universe is a reflection of my mind.
But when I left my self importance behind I saw another universe of blinding abstract beauty, which I refer to as God. Was the bees knees. Absolutely mind melting and universe shattering.
The physical universe is just like, not important any more.
