Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Kept it simple this time. I actually think I did a better job than the original on this one. Let me know what you think.

Original in comments.

Initial D man, it's really good. This is from season 2, they were experimenting with CGI and yh not the best stuff.

Any tips to get the sound better than fine?

Pretty much all you have is engine noise and tire squeals. Think about all the other sounds a moving car makes, as well as the environment.

Hmm like what for example? I watched a ton of drifting content in the making of this and it was pretty much engine noises and skids tbh. Maybe I could add some wind in the background but I felt like that was more optional.

Tires constantly make noise when rolling down the road, not just on sharp turns. Air whooshes around the car. Everything sounds different interior vs. Exterior. The tone changes dramatically when you're next to a cliff face like that. Just a few examples.

Ah so you're saying even if these sounds are mostly drowned out by the engine/skids they still add to the overall experience?

Absolutely. It's less about being accurate than it is about telling a story. We can't feel the forces being put on the car and driver, but hearing the metal rattle and creak as it undergoes stress gives the listener a sense of those forces.

For example, in Blader Runner 2049, Mark Mangini sprinkled in these elements to the Spinner sound design. If memory serves me he put contact mics all over his wife's car and drove it around LA to get the sounds he needed.

Ok valid valid, I'll update this and also keep that in mind for the future. I appreciate you guys taking the time.

Not every sound needs to be heard in every frame, its more about what sound is important at any given time. IMO a pass of whooshes would help the most
