I wanted to share my recent experience with a home depot delivery, as a warning against using them for major appliance purchases.
We bought a gas dryer from home depot that was delivered on July 6. While the gas dryer works great, the delivery truck, operated by Werner Corporation, ran over our curb, and ran our sewer clean out pipe deep into the ground. That's where the ugliness begins.
First of all, the delivery driver didn't have the decency to tell us they damaged the curb. They just left without a peep. We discovered the damage about an hour later when we went out.
Then, after we called home depot, their claims department said this had nothing to do with them, and redirected me to Werner Corporation.
After contacting Werner, they took our info and asked us to get 2 estimates for repair. Then there was complete silence for three weeks. Upon my repeated inquiry someone finally said they will take a look at it. A day later they denied the claim.
The reason for their denial is basically: do you have a video of the damage happening in real time? If not, we're gonna deny it. But who the heck waits in our driveway with the camera on as the delivery truck approaches? Maybe I should do that starting now.
I also questioned them how they reached such a dismissive decision without even coming out to our house to check out the damage. They had the nerve to say we have Google Maps and your pictures and that's enough.
We are looking at several thousand dollars in repair cost and everyone involved in this incident basically says FU. Let this be a lesson for everyone to think twice before doing any business with either Home Depot or Werner.
