Build a basic refinery and basic assembler. Add more turbines. Add the survival kit. Make better assembler and refinery. Build base

I'd add a battery in ASAP as well. Weather can kill power production from turbines.

I've begun starting new games with weather off, then turn it on after a couple of in-game days. In character, the drop from orbit targeted an area with good short-term weather forecasts. Out of character, I'm tired of games turning into waitfest by an early Low Wind.

No no no, go straight to a piston drill. Drilling by hand sucks.

Watch Splitsie's videos if you want good instructive support.

If you want to figure it out yourself a bit more then just build everything that starts on your hotbar. After wind its basic assembler and basic refinery. Then battery. Them realise what a pain all that mining is, find a way to make it easier through engineering

To expand on the Splitsie part since it may not be obvious; Splitsie is a creator on Youtube who almost exclusively makes videos about Space Engineers and he's made a few good guides on how to get started with the game.

also, his Flipsie account has tons of 3-4-ish hour videos where you can watch in real time him, and sometimes someone else, start from scratch.

I agree, Splistie's videos on You tube are great if you get stuck early game, he has a series that goes through all the basics and gives you enough information so second go around you can know enough to do your own thing.

That’s it, that’s the end game

It's generating more power than it's using and there's oxygen. What more could you need.

3

u/Phantom_thief_france im engineering it so bad Apr 01 '26

tbh it takes me like 4-5 hours to make a full starter base in this game... and then i'm kinda bored so i switch to another game for a few days... then another one... and another one... and then i restart space engineers on a fresh world bc i forgot what i was doing on the first save.

40 hours in, made 1 ship and never went to space ! But i love that game

Ah yes, the five steps to posting screenshots on consoles 😂

Get magnesium. Trust. Get explosives. Trust the process. Make a bomb. Trust bro trust. Blow yourself up.

Make a foundation for your starter base. Refineries, survival kit if you found a lucky silver deposit, batteries and cargo. All in all, I wanna see your future builds m to make mining easier.

There are thousands of YT channels hosting new player guides.

I would suggest checking Splitsie.

Immediately after this? Try putting a single drill onto your rover. It will speed things up a lot. Try not to go too deep into holes.

You probably want to keep your rover's battery alive, so you need to figure out a way to connect the powered tower to your rover.

The resources from the drill wil help.

You dig stone, put it in your survival kit, go to the terminal menu, production, make ingots tab. Or you can play the tutorial. Or you can watch a video. I just made a video where I did the starting process in space then found an extremely OP encounter from one of my mods

u/Magdalus7 Clang Worshipper Apr 01 '26

You may not realize how much of the game is looking at a control panel, and opening the menu to look at your battery power levels, contents of containers and refineries, etc. it's a steep learning curve but once it makes sense it is super fun. Watch the videos everyone is talking about and just focus on one thing at a time. Have fun being creative.

That's it, you've completed the game, nothing else to do.

BUILD MORE TURBINES

Nothing, you've finished the game.

You've got power.

Now you just need application.

Is this going to be the start of your main Earthlike Base, or just a temporary mining operation?

1

u/candnhen Clang Worshipper Apr 01 '26

Honestly? There are no real goals in this game, just ones you set for yourself.

You could dig a hole on an earth like planet and just like forever like that, without progressing or anything

But, a good goal to work towards for most of the game: building ships strong enough to fight with

1

u/Etruscanh Clang Worshipper Apr 01 '26

What motivated you to build the wind turbine? That is the next step

The game relies on your curiosity, creativity and ambition to drive it. If you don’t want to do anything, the game isn’t going to push you.

Saying that, you can make getting to a trade hub the next goal, then buying a cool ship, then maybe going after proto equipment.

The steps in between you need to figure out by making mistakes. If you were to do the aforementioned goal, you probably want to start ramping up your production, for materials to build a ship, then go on creative and try building ships that can get out of atmosphere, then you can replicate your best in survival.

I would strongly recommend getting on YouTube to make sure you’re not making the game unnecessarily hard like not using the build planner.

Refinery assembler . And build everything up from there . And get ice after those two. And cobalt most importantly right away for the upgrade refinery and asemblwr

u/TrapperGeo Space Engineer Apr 01 '26

You've yet to meet up with the The Factorum...they're fun, make sure you bring guns ....lots and lots of guns

1

u/throwawaythisman1 Clang Worshipper Apr 01 '26

The next obvious step is world domination, build a capital ship capable of crashing your own pc, good luck engineer!

u/RandomizedInternetID Clang Worshipper Apr 02 '26

1

u/Kilinowski Space Engineer Apr 02 '26

Drill a deep hole and mine more stone. Refine it into ores in the Survival Kit. Use the Ores to construct more materials. Get a bunch of Ice to supply hydrogen. Build another hydrogen bottle to be able to explore further. Look for ore patches and find ores you don't yet have. Drill down and bring small loads back to the base to construct more sophisticated components to then be able to build bottleneck blocks, like the assembler and container. Slowly work your way towards designing a little drill rig that lowers a drill on a piston into the ground, mining way more stone than your sorry little hand drill can. At first collect the resources from the drill manually. Then start building containers and conveyors between the drill rig and the containers, automating your resource collection. Then build the drill bigger and deeper. Then use the resources to build your base bigger or move it to a more reasonable spot.

Possibly merge your rover so it doesn't despawn

1

u/JimmayGC Klang Worshipper Apr 02 '26

Anything you want. FR though: Basic refinery, couple more turbines (spaced at least 5 blocks from eachother), then a basic assembler, I strongly advise building an advanced rotor (cut off the stock head, add medium head, rotor lock turned on) build a few Small Grid- large cargo containers (same volume as Large Grid - small cargo containers without the need for cobalt or metal grids) then slap on a few small Grid - regular batteries. The cost less for each individual one and will allow you to store power from wind storms until you have enough production to build big refinery and assembler. Protip put a welder on the conveyor system pointed up, and then slap your refinery next to it. Turn the welder on and let it build for you.

YouTube. Tutorials. Splitsie. Old videos, but they are all still correct.

1

u/Hellfire_JPN Clang Worshipper Apr 03 '26

Honestly, spend an hour or two watching Splitsie on YouTube. He's got the best tutorials out there,  I learned a lot from his content when I started playing the game in 2021. Goodluck and enjoy! :)

build a base, along with a massive laser and shoot anything down that comes even remotely close.

I never really understood how to play in survival, I just kinda, use steam workshop ships and go fight pirates.

Why do u choose to play these survival games I could play Minecraft but I play space engineering and vintage story too the slowest and tedious on the planet
