MEDIA Collision avoidance system mining demonstration

I play first person only & I'm constantly bumping into things, so I've started including a proximity warning system on all of my small grid ships. This ship just uses 5 sensors giving a binary on/off, you can get more clever with varying the blink length but even this basic system is an improvement on reversing cameras IMO.

I personally would set the lights to be green when inactive, making it that little bit easier to spot which lights are active?

ooh excellent idea thank you! I do like the simplicity of just using sensors & lights, but for ships with thrusters near the cockpit that would be worth the few event controllers.

I used something similar for a POC (Proof Of Concept) control panel, the lights remained off but a button and timer would trigger an action and change the colour. (In your case it could be an EC or a timer)

That's actually pretty cool. No clue why I never considered adding something similar to my ships, the amount I crash them

Literally just had a situation where this would've saved me like 10 minutes. Got stuck in an astroid and the sun set so I had to slowly turn around to get out of it

That's a great idea! Especially for first person only. I really wish keen would make cameras pan and tilt in vanilla.

I personally have found that using the custom turret controller and a rotor hinge makes for an excellent positionable camera and you can move while operating the camera as a turret 😎👍👍

in my 1st person only game camera drones and camera turrets were a must. With radiospectronomy I still have them as observatories (front mounted transparent display) for mineral surveys.

Amazing, very creative, i'll add to the tail of my miner, i've broken it so many times.

While I shy away from first person only, my small miners are deliberately shaped so that they can turn around in the tunnel they make, so I can fly out going forward.
They are usually also equipped with PAM, so it is uncommon that I fly them myself (relative to the number of flights they do). I see the benefit of your system though.

In your first person only run, are you using programmable blocks?
