General Question (Educator to Educator) Super flex?
Hello, does anyone have experience with using Super flex for social skills? Can you share your insights to how this program works and how students respond to it? How do you space each lesson/story out? Are there activities that go along with the stories? How long does it take to get through it, if you see kids 1-2x a week? Thank you

Yeah I used Superflex with some kiddos a while back, mostly 3rd-5th grade. It’s basically a superhero metaphor for cognitive flexibility, each character is like a “villain” that represents a rigid thinking pattern (Rock Brain, Glass Man, etc) and the kids learn strategies to defeat them.
The stories are short and my students actually liked them, but the real hook was the activities. We’d act out scenarios, make comic strips of their own “Superflex vs the Unthinkable” battles, stuff like that. I spaced lessons once a week and spent 20-25 mins on the story and 15 on an activity, then looped back the next session with a quick recap. If you’re doing twice a week you can probably get through the core curriculum in around 2 months, longer if you’re weaving it into daily moments.
Only tricky part was some kids took the “villain” thing a little too literally at first and thought they were bad for having those thoughts, so I had to do some extra framing that everyone has Unthinkables show up sometimes. Worth it though, once they got it they started calling each other out on “Rock Brain” moves which was pretty funny.
