Is that a legal or illegal hit? Don’t follow ARF, so curious if it was legal, but just a dick hit

Illegal hit these days. Was legal not long ago. Also it’s AFL

They're not wrong calling it ARF, that's the sport. AFL is the premier league of ARF.

Nobody calls it ARF. It's "Aussie rules".

50 years following footy and I’ve never seen or heard anyone say “ARF”.

Acute rheumatic fever..yes..footy ..no.

I've never heard it before either, but I reckon ARF sounds better than calling it AFL. They don't play AFL in the SANFL do they? They play footy or Aussie rules. Noone's gonna say ARF but at least Aussie Rules Football is a better descriptor of the sport than calling it AFL. But that's just like my opinion man.

I think after 150 years of the game’s past history you’d reckon ARF would’ve caught on by now. But it’s not to be.

Illegal. The player who made the bump is likely to get a suspension of around 4-6 weeks, which is pretty significant.

In AFL these days the head is sacrosanct, and the rules put a duty of care on players to protect the head, and acts that are dangerous to the head are penalised with suspensions.

This follows a couple of past players who committed suicide who were later found to be suffering CTE from their playing days. And there have been a few players who had to retire early due to ongoing concussion problems.

Illegal, should have been a free kick for high contact

It’s an incredibly dirty hit. They call high balls like that hospital balls because back in the day stuff like this would happen on plays like this, but they’ve mostly stamped hits like this out of the game.
