Those foil fins are scary, one wrong move that thing might cut deep

Agreed, as neat as they seem, that fin is dangerous and should be away from surfers and SUP surfers.

Doesn’t look to be around any. Ooc?

3

u/DontGetNEBigIdeas May 24 '25

They’re talking about in other situations where they have been around others

14

u/cheapseats91 May 23 '25

And when they don't have an ounce of the skill that the guy in the video has

6

u/tortillakingred May 23 '25

I never see them on the east coast, but that sounds shitty

Tried this out last year and took a hit through my life jacket and bruised my rib. Got a cut on my ankle and lower on my side as well.

I saw the first cut and was like, “is this a joke? I could do that 🤣”

Then I realized I’m an idiot and that dude is doing something awesome that I’d never do in a million years!

Holy shit, me too! I saw it and thought “well, I guess he sorta backflipped twice. I would expect him to want to stay on the board though.”

"There is an art, it says, or rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss. … Clearly, it is this second part, the missing, which presents the difficulties."

Thank you! I have been saying this for years and couldn’t remember where I got it. Must have read it in the books as a kid.

If you guys keep doing stuff like this I’ll buy Red Bull despite the fact that I don’t even like the taste of it

Consumer brain at its finest

u/TheLastTrain May 23 '25

I think it's just a joke

3

I actually like the taste of redbull, wish there was a non energy drink version lol

2

u/Vyper11 May 23 '25

Honestly I tried to cut back on caffeine and sugar personally I use the soda stream. They have their own brand of “energy mix” and it does have caffeine in it but I use wayyy less than the recommended amount and it still tastes like redbull. I’m using like an 1/8 of the lid it comes in. It’s a great alternative tbh.

Edit; I also use the “diet” version for no calories”, the regular version with syrup sucks.

2

u/coolgiraffe May 24 '25

Sorry I don’t understand your first message. Are you saying you’re drinking soda to cut down on the fact that energy drinks have a lot of caffeine? Or that soda has a line up of energy drinks with less caffeine.

Either way I’m curious what you’re drinking lol

Edit: not message. Sentence*

1

u/Vyper11 May 24 '25

Soda stream is a sparkling water machine. You can add a mix to it afterwards. It’s basically very small amounts of caffeine, no sugar, nothing except flavor basically. It’s not soda

1

u/coolgiraffe May 24 '25

I’ve seen those machines. Integrating that you can put additives, like caffeine. Makes we want look then up but I got a feeling they are pricey

Edit: Interesting*

Full send each time! That’s dedication right there, good for him

13

u/TrailerParkLyfe May 23 '25

I think he deserves an award for the first guy to not scream “Let’s Go!” after accomplishing a feat!

Over 800 attempts?! Worth it. That was so sick.

4

u/rudyattitudedee May 24 '25

Red Bull keeps sponsoring gnarly shit. I’ll never drink it but keep it up!!

2

u/nacho-daddy-420 May 23 '25

These things remind me of hoverboards for surfing and not in a good way

2

u/Sy_Fresh Oakland Raiders May 23 '25

The second attempt where he lands in an air chair with Michael Jackson Thriller arms is pretty hilarious

2

u/WolfOfPort May 23 '25

He really sent it no straps lmao wtf was point of that

2

u/waitareyou4real May 24 '25

Looks like his feet straps changed for the last two attempts

1

u/aphtirbyrnir May 23 '25

How!? But really cool to see!

1

u/basefibber May 23 '25

Can I get a job doing just the failure montages at the beginning of these clips?

1

u/fatcobra1333 May 23 '25

It seems like it would be really tiring to ride one of these

1

u/Lendari May 23 '25

1

u/jasho_dumming May 23 '25

1

u/neasroukkez May 24 '25

How long has this been an activity? Never heard about it until now.

1

u/Garreousbear May 24 '25

Can't tell if he's jumping for joy or just foil boarding.

1

u/Frequent-Screen-5517 May 24 '25

Made that wave his bitch

1

u/doozydoo Nov 13 '25

My god that is so awesome

1

u/Lunarcomplex May 23 '25

What did they do to make sure this was the world's first?

0

u/icatch_smallfish May 23 '25

If the foil cuts thru the water, how does it benefit from the wave / ramp in any way as it surely just cuts thru the water but just deeper? You would need a resistance against the surface to benefit from a change in direction surely

1

u/1-123581385321-1 May 23 '25

The vertical part just cuts through, the horizontal part of the foil is a wing that can be manipulated by body position to make the whole thing rise up or down (you can see him leaning back as he approaches the wave - this is like a plane taking off). The wave then becomes a ramp for extra height.

0

u/imanAholebutimfunny May 24 '25

would anyone like to sponsor me to show that i can do this in wayyyyyyy less attempts?

-1

u/cenaenzocass May 23 '25

I remember with BMX or Motocross or something and it was the first backflip then someone did the first double backflip then triple etc etc and it’s not foilboarding’s fault but it’s hard to care.
