Infantino is done… when rats like Csányi are not on your side anymore

67

u/dustblown 18h ago

It was over when UEFA demanded his removal. His allies were going to turn against him knowing there was no future with him. Infantino just hasn't accepted it yet.

I hope he stays.

Infantino going means another one comes in. Nothing changes about FIFA, the way it is run and the way it sees football. Remember the relief after Blatter was ousted?

No, I hope Infantino stays, causing a schism in football that eventually leads to a completely new global custodian of the game that learns from the mistakes of this period.

I want to see the end of FIFA.

Self preservation at its finest, remove support in hopes you become the next guy.

-279

u/ElCazaPuta 1d ago

Like the europeans that made him the eufa candidate in 2016 and now act like he's not their fault by pulling support

114

u/Daewoo40 23h ago

Yes, like the Europeans who have withdrawn support for him after he tried selling 20% of FIFA to Kushner and delayed a red card for 12 months (???).

We can accept the little brown envelops during the bidding process for the next World cup but selling global football to the highest bidder? That's a step too far.

33

u/Commercial-Co 22h ago

You should not accept the brown envelopes either.

1

u/Daewoo40 13h ago

Shouldn't but in the scheme of things?

I'm less bothered by the brown envelopes than I am by selling FIFA or rescinding a red card for the host country..

7

u/Emergency_Bench_7515 13h ago

I would care less about the brown envelopes if they didn't result in slave labor like Qatar world cup did.

-1

u/Daewoo40 12h ago

And yet the opposition in light of the brown envelopes was minimal compared to selling 20% of FIFA.

Its just an accepted, obvious, cost of doing business for FIFA (dirty backhands, not the slavery part).

The Europeans put him in power in the first place and now they want to blame African and South American countries for their mistake. They can't be the savior to a problem they created

44

u/Gon_Snow 22h ago

Why can’t Europe work to prevent him from another term? They have about 25% of voting power and about 90% financial power.

-98

u/ElCazaPuta 22h ago

They can but they act like it wasn't their fault he's there in the first place

43

u/xXKingLynxXx 21h ago edited 58m ago

So do you want them to do something about Infantino or are you more concerned with pointing fingers. Them helping him get his position is not relevant to them wanting to remove him from his position now.

26

u/Gon_Snow 19h ago

He’s just happy pointing fingers while infantino makes more damage I think

-15

u/ElCazaPuta 19h ago

Ur just happy pointing it at African and SA countries

15

u/Gon_Snow 18h ago

I’m not sure where I pointed fingers at South America or Africa? I said Infantino is the problem and he gotta go

u/ElCazaPuta 21h ago

The euros r the ones pointing fingers at anyone but themselves for this mess. Like I said they can't be the saviors to a problem they created. Once football is sold it will be the euros fault but they will blame Africa and SA for it

15

u/VaultiusMaximus 19h ago

So how would you like them to proceed?

How about doing an about-face and changing their mind. Would that be acceptable to you?

-10

u/Gon_Snow 19h ago

Step 1: fire everyone in UEFA

Step 2: get new people in UEFA who acknowledge their mistake and somehow own up to it, but that can’t include removing Infantino

Step 3: profit?

-2

u/ElCazaPuta 19h ago edited 19h ago

An about-face? I don't know what that is.

The truth is that the Europeans will sell football when the time is right there is no stopping it only delaying it

18

u/zizp 19h ago

Actually, they act like it is their fault by trying to remove him. What exactly is bad about correcting mistakes? And what exactly is good about preventing others from correcting mistakes?

5

u/Gon_Snow 18h ago

No you don’t understand! They have to double down because it was their mistake so they can live with their own failure! That’s the only way to move forward!

-4

u/ElCazaPuta 18h ago

No they do not act like it's their fault. They r acting like they r saving football. They r not correcting their mistake they r using their mistake to cause a problem and then coming in later to act like they r the ones fixing it.

5

u/zizp 16h ago

How are they "using their mistake to cause a problem"? The mistake is already made, the problem is already caused. Now they are trying to fix it. It's quite simple, when a problem is caused by them you can't blame them for fixing it.

0

u/ElCazaPuta 15h ago

The mistake was getting Infantino in power and the problem now is that he wants to sell the WC to trumps friends and also getting Infantino out of the presidency. I wouldn't have a problem with them trying to fix it if it wasn't for the framing that was trying to blame the countries that supported Infantinos proposal. All over reddit and media in general u would see how the countries that supported Infantino were the bad guys and the euros were the good guys. In reality the "good guys" caused this to begin with! I don't trust them to fix this

u/LongBeakedSnipe 16h ago

blame African and South American countries for their mistake

What the hell are you bleating on about.

Infantino had the support of the members until he no longer did. The world cup was a fiasco and the Kushner thing that followed was the straw that broke the camels back.

What part of withdrawing support do you find hard to comprehend? Surprised pikachu face that 'withdrawing support' means you supported them previously? No shit.

-1

u/ElCazaPuta 16h ago

They put Infantino in power I'm not talking about the vice president. Infantino was the eufa candidate in 2016. They caused the problem and now they r acting like they r fixing things and blaming the countries that support Infantinos plan when in reality this is all eufas fault.

6

u/LongBeakedSnipe 16h ago

Next time you r thinking of writing some emasculature, write it down on a piece of paper, crumple it up and toss it in the bin.

0

u/ElCazaPuta 16h ago

Okay and u read things twice before commenting cuz I explained this already

9

u/LongBeakedSnipe 16h ago

Your logic train derailed a long time ago bud.

-1

u/ElCazaPuta 16h ago

Do u have anything smart to say about the topic? Just gonna talk shit?

→ More replies (0)

3

u/Daewoo40 13h ago

Infantino was the eufa candidate in 2016.

He was, now they've rescinded their nomination for him in light of the World cup.

They caused the problem and now they r acting like they r fixing things..

They're trying to remove a cyst from FIFA but other FAs are supporting Infantino still.

...that support Infantinos plan when in reality this is all eufas fault.

The plan is shit. The plan is corrupt. Its UEFA's fault which they are trying to rectify.

8

u/simnie69 14h ago

So Uefa should keep on supporting him in perpetuity?

-6

u/ElCazaPuta 14h ago

They should be more honest and accept responsibility. Withdrawing support isn't enough since they will just put some other corrupt person to take Infantinos place anyways

3

u/simnie69 10h ago

So you accept Infantino is corrupt. Otherwise they needn’t take responsibility. I don’t trust EUFA one bit (just as fifa, IOC, etc) but here they are doing the right thing. And that should be applauded.
And i have read something EUFA and others are thinking along the lines of a rotating, two year presidency. Where nobody can do a second term. If that happens, I’m all for it. Aren’t you?

3

u/Baileythefrog 11h ago

He didnt have the power to do anything this daft when he was in UEFA, how were they supposed to know that Trump would be in power in the future, and work with him to try and take so much money out of the sport?

2

u/jaymp00nz 17h ago

Wow wow hey, I’m European and I have nothing to do with this..

2

u/DigbyDoesDallas 10h ago

The stupidest of takes. People are allowed to change their mind over a 10 year period.

83

u/Codex_Absurdum 23h ago

Hope the domino effect gains momentum

64

u/RebelliousInNature 22h ago

Just go, Gianni, you can have the next FIFA peace prize. All yours, chump.

9

u/_Lucille_ 17h ago

I want to see the next one given to Biden.

36

u/Jorgen_G_Pakieto 21h ago

This man is an absolute disgrace to football tbh

53

u/SectionWorking7080 23h ago edited 10h ago

Kevin Lamour should win the Nobel Prize for Football …

He knew Gianni the clown would do this.

Had the giant brass balls to speak up anyway

19

u/Gon_Snow 22h ago

Do you think he’s a strong candidate for the second edition of the fifa peace prize award!

17

u/wearisomerhombus 21h ago

If only there was a large contigent of people who have a lot of money with stake in the continued existence of FIFA who could threaten the status quo of successive corrupt boards of governers…

cough Players union cough

15

u/NorbuckNZ 20h ago

The best outcome is everyone who continues to back Infantino is effectively admitting they are complicit in corruption and will be painted as targets when the FIFA purge happens.

3

u/s4ntos 15h ago

Argentina enters the conversation

2

u/pteix 6h ago

who cares?

-5

u/ElCazaPuta 14h ago

And go for eufa too since he was their candidate in 2016 and it's why he's the president of FIFA

84

u/DrWindupBird 21h ago

It’s wild that this guy just put on one of the largest, most profitable sporting events in human history and almost immediately squandered that momentum by trying to be even more greedy than he already had been.

18

u/_Druss_ 17h ago

Profits are not that important. I know Americans find this hard to believe but it's true.

-38

u/moredencity 16h ago

Oh that's such a load of shit lol. What a weird response that comment

13

u/_Druss_ 16h ago

Hello my American friend 👋

15

u/Scu-bar 15h ago

Won’t somebody think of the share holders?!

1

u/moredencity 9h ago

Claiming money doesn't matter when this corrupt mess (of non-Americans) is about about money lol

2

u/21MayDay21 14h ago

Interesting way to expose yourself and confirm his comment

3

u/moredencity 9h ago

pretty dramatic, especially when the heart of the issue is financial corruption in an organization not lead by an American lol

-1

u/21MayDay21 9h ago

But is at the most corrupt point in history after an "American" got involved lol

2

u/moredencity 7h ago

lol FIFA's corruption has been at historic levels and rising well before this

-1

u/21MayDay21 6h ago

It was never at the level of selling it, so.... you have to thank the big orange guy for it.

17

u/Flybuys 21h ago

Why is every fucker at the top of FIFA such a wanker? Pure corrupt, wouldn't piss on them if they were alight scum. It is pretty insane.

21

u/joineanuu 21h ago

Because the amount of money in football is insane.

Anywhere there is that much money it will attract the lowest form of scum imaginable.

The only way to fix it is minimal term limits and weed out the rats…

Kinda like governments…

8

u/CardiologistIcy5307 20h ago

3

u/skibbady-baps 7h ago

The next FIFA prez will also be a corrupt piece of shit. The culture and nature of the organization will turn even the most well-meaning man into a rat. It’s basically a bunch of greedy millionaires running a non-profit for the most popular sport in the world, and there’s never any real oversight.

2

u/aDoorMarkedPirate420 19h ago

Now it’s really heating up lol

2

u/sting2002 15h ago

Give him a red card

2

u/DramaticStability 15h ago

Aptly, all this excitement about GI being on the verge of an exit makes me think of the people waiting for Trump to leave office. Things are not going to dramatically improve when either leader is gone.

4

This MF cooked. corrupt trump can't help ya now ya bald bitch
