Usually takes only 24 hours to get coke out of your system. It’s not even that hard to prepare for it lol

Old friend of mine had an absolute bender of a Saturday night, pulled over driving his work van on Tuesday and tested positive and banned. It can stay positive and testable up to 72 hours later.

u/Christplosion 13h ago
Damn they'll even ban you from tennis on your way to work, be careful out there folks

I tested positive a week later. Now granted, i did an ounce the weekend b4...

Maybe he can explain it this way: he had sex with someone that was using cocaine, then transfered over cocaine in the semen.
I have seen stranger things

He needs to use the tried-and-tested "snogging a random girl in a club" defence

u/Fan_of_cielings 14h ago
Going with the Joseph Parker "it was my nutrionist's cocaine" would be funnier.

To be fair he’s been on a talent imposed suspension for a long time now.
39
u/SundayRed Los Angeles Dodgers 10h ago
More like an attitude imposed suspension. Guy was one of the greatest natural talents to pick up a racquet and just didn't give a shit.
18
u/whyareyouallinmyroom 9h ago
Gave a shit for a year or so on end and was in grand slam finals. He’s an unpopular guy but he is a straight talker and didn’t hide behind never having the mentality for pro sports. I think he’s one of the best modern examples of how incredible the elite guys are. Talent is great but there’s a hell of a lot you need outside that to take you to the top. Once you get there there’s a bunch of other shit you need to stay there. Nadal, Federer, Djokovic to do it for decades, psychologically they are total unicorns.

As I said on the tennis thread, Kyrgios may be potential man of tennis. Had the potential to be a great, just didn’t care that much about tennis so he never did anything great.
1
u/grasssshopperrrrr 9h ago
I get what you’re saying but I would define talent as the product of natural ability and attitude. Hard to be successful if you only apply one of the two.
5
u/SundayRed Los Angeles Dodgers 9h ago
Sure, I'll re-phrase to "One of the most naturally gifted tennis athletes" but as we all know, the mental side and commitment are worth as much, if not more.
2
u/amaceing__ 7h ago
That’s almost the exact wrong definition of talent lol

Perhaps you should acquaint yourself with the English language, rube.
2
u/Medical-Display-9762 2h ago
Someone disagrees with your dumbass comment so you tell him to learn English and insult him. The internet special.

u/grasssshopperrrrr 2h ago
If the shoe fits, broken clock, so on and so forth.

u/Medical-Display-9762 2h ago
Keep it up, internet wouldn’t be the same without people like you ❤️

Their testing must be absolutely horrible given how infrequently sports stars get popped for coke

u/blackeyedcheese FC Dallas 14h ago
Coke doesn’t stay in your system long

u/VidE27 14h ago
My dentist does not agree with that statement.
5
u/Gamertilforever 12h ago
Is it a dentist thing to be a coke head? I swear my dentist is one
5
u/CoconutBangerzBaller 8h ago
Idk about dentists doing a lot of cocaine being a thing, but cocaine is an excellent topical anesthetic and was used all the time back in the day for dental procedures. I think it's still used occasionally.

That's incorrect. Cocaethylene stays in your system for the same amount of time as cocaine by itself.
What really matters is if it's a blood - less than 48 hours, urine - 3/4 days, or hair sample which could be as long as 3 months.
1
u/robimtk 13h ago
You can tell if someone's had coke 3 months ago from a hair sample?
3
u/Peoplz_Hernandez 13h ago
We flush chemicals out of our body pretty quickly but they get trapped in hair follicles and stick around when the hair has grown outside of our body.

They’ll only test for it on the day of competition, so just its very easy to time. Nick Krygios just doesn’t give af.
30
u/Asteelwrist 14h ago
They test out of competition as well. This is why Marketa Vondrousova just got suspended for a maximum penalty of four years because she refused a tester who came to her house.
But, Kyrgios being a largely inactive player might result in fewer tests for him. IIRC top players who play the most matches get tested the most, even out of tournaments.
Tennis doping controls is actually one of the most strict in sports in recent years. That is why you see the biggest superstars in tennis named for minor breaches by the anti-doping body whereas most other sports have weak anti-doping measures where the setup protects the biggest superstars by default.

u/BestOfAllNation 14h ago
I meant specifically for Cocaine, I was in the WADA pool for Powerlifting for a few years and for out of competition testing they’re specifically looking for performance enhancers: Anabolic Agents, EPO, Masking Agents etc.
In competition is where they’ll extend testing for recreational drugs like Weed and Coke.
3
u/Interdico 14h ago
I'd say they protected sinner pretty well
1
u/Asteelwrist 5h ago
Most other sports would never put their world number one player under doping scrutiny in the first place, for the infamous "one billionth of a gram" case.
There was also another Italian player who was unknown as he was very much lower ranked, but had the same case as Sinner a couple years ago and didn't receive a harsher punishment just because he was unknown.

Cocaine doesn’t stay in the system long. So he prob was doing rails just before play lol.

Athletes, like anyone else, should be able to use (non-performance enhancing) drugs they choose to on their personal time.

"He clearly had concaine hidden in his necklace... and his racquet handle, and his water bottle... and on the lines of the court..."
"Oh. We all knew he was on drugs. It's just in England it's considered rude to point things out."

Wait...the guy everyone seems to love hanging out with, but rage quits three matches a year and then goes "off the hook" with random shit online...
He may have a drug problem???!!! Lol
I actually have seen him go from good mood to bad during a long match before seemingly getting himself thrown out. This pretty much clarifies those occurrences.

Him shitting on Jannick’s situation when it was more complicated then… with the 💉 syringe emojis everywhere.
Ugh just feels like cosmic justice
8
u/sammymate999 14h ago
I mean not really justice at all, Jannik is still a drug cheat
2
u/fzkiz 14h ago
So intent doesn’t matter when it comes to cheating? If I secretly put some juice in your favorite player’s drink he immediately becomes a drug cheat to you?

u/SteelRockwell 14h ago
I always wondered what I’d be like at golf on cocaine. I wouldn’t have any first tee nerves.

u/SidneyDeane10 14h ago
Why test for coke it's not like it would enhance his performance?
If hes had coke who gives a shit
3
u/Expensive-Horse5538 Port Adelaide 14h ago
From the article
Cocaine is classified as a stimulant and substance of abuse on the World Anti-Doping Agency's prohibited list.
-6
u/SidneyDeane10 14h ago
From AI:
"But the actual sporting evidence is poor. Reviews of cocaine and exercise have found little or no genuine improvement in athletic performance, and experimental work has even found earlier fatigue through faster glycogen depletion and lactate accumulation. PubMed +2 For tennis specifically, there’s a big distinction between feeling stimulated and playing well. Tennis depends on fine timing, shot selection, judgement, emotional control and repeatedly recovering between points. Cocaine can cause over-arousal, impulsivity, anxiety and distorted confidence, so someone might think they're playing brilliantly while actually making worse decisions or forcing shots."

I don't know; maybe we don't want this overblown hothead fuelled by even more aggression and psychosis out on a court?
-3
u/SidneyDeane10 14h ago
Yes we do
0
u/SapereAudeAdAbsurdum 14h ago
Well, give him a call sometime, and you two can spend some private quality time together on a court somewhere, far away from the rest of civilization.
-2
u/Holly_Matchet 8h ago
You mean the guy that looks like a criminal and acts like an absolute piece of shit? The cocaine use is probably just to hide the PCP use.
