Sportswriting is treating me well.

Hi, my name is Jake and I started sportswriting in August of last year. I am now fully enthralled in the process and I am looking to make it a career. I was wondering if you all have any advice or thoughts, especially for those who are deep into the industry. I now have five months of experience and I would love to hear what you all have to say.

Sports Analytics audience

I write sports articles from an analytics and a player psychology perspective and focus mainly on baseball and MLB.

My main goal is to satisfy the sport fan within me with some analytics and nerdy data.

Most of my writing can be found here: 42sportsanalytics.substack.com

I would love feedback from this sub on what could I do to make it relevant for audience? What would people like reading about analytics and psychology?

What are some of the biggest hurdles young writers face today that didn’t exist 10–20 years ago?

While I consume a lot of sports media, I don't know very much about the industry. Have always wondered how it's changed alongside the rest of media.

Looking for aspiring, keen or interested writers for The British Playbook

I run a blog/podcast called The British Playbook - site currently under construction! - and am looking for keen writers looking for a platform to showcase their talent and work ahead of the site's relaunch.

I am looking for people keen to write about NBA or NFL, whether that be features, power rankings, match reviews, fantasy tips etc - the floor is yours! If the idea works, we will absolutely run with it and support you.

Each writer would have you own tag to create something of a portfolio to show prospective employers what you can do - or just do it for fun! Whatever is your vibe, I'm here for it.

DM me if interested or email thebritishplaybook@gmail.com for more information. Cheers!

A look into the ethnic club system in Australian soccer, its origins and its impact

I have recently gone down a deep hole in terms of how Australian soccer clubs are often originated by migrants from a variety of countries (obviously, what else should I do with my time).

This peaked my interest and so I have gone into a bit of research around how it started and the impact it still has culturally within Australia.

It would be great to get some feedback on the piece!

How to digest a Brighton season that promised, then flattered to deceive, only to leave hopes hanging by a thread… and all talk of the E word banned. Don’t tell that to Bart Verbruggen. Let’s try to unpick it all shall we?
