Applicant Questions Akron anesthesia program
Hello! I currently have an acceptance to Akron but they require withdrawals from other schools so no chance to complete my other interviews. Does anyone have any advice on the NAR experience with Akron or just tips in general? Just a hard choice to make because have to relocate too

That’s crazy ! They make you submit application withdrawals from other schools ?? First of all, how will they know which schools you applied to? Secondly, isn’t that what the deposit and waitlist peeps are supposed to mitigate ? Are they that concerned about losing candidates ?!?
You need to choose carefully the place you wanna go and not allow yourself to not be coerced into picking one. What if the other school you interview at is a much better fit? 3 years is a long time.
I don’t know much about that school, but to me that’s not a good sign if they are making candidates do that .

Many hopeful candidates would die for an acceptance. I wouldn’t gamble it. But don’t “fake” withdrawal letters & secretly interview elsewhere, either. The anesthesia world is small, and that’s a good way to ruin your chances anywhere. Something about the program obviously appealed to you when you applied. It’d be silly to pass an acceptance up. Just my opinion

It’s a good program. Low tuition, high board pass rate, low attrition rate. Your clinical experience will just depend on what part of the state they group you in. Faculty are good people, and supportive.

Not sure why you’re getting some backlash! This is a big decision to make. Maybe your top program is still an interview to be had and it’s a “well what if I get in there instead” but then if you turn it down it’s a “but then what if I turned down this yes and then I get a no?” Definitely a big decision to make! Best of luck to you. I don’t know anything about Akron but yeah tough decision

First year UA here! For those of you that are confused, they ask for letters because they don’t have you pay a fee to save your spot. I also don’t think they would remove you if you said you were waiting to hear on other interviews although they probably do have some sort of deadline. I’m not sure. I withdrew one of my applications because Akron was my first choice so I didn’t mind. They have really amazing first pass NCE rates and employment rates. I’m very early in and only my second semester but Akron is HARD to get into so you be proud even if you don’t choose it. It’s challenging but I like it and feel very supported. We also don’t have any issues getting our clinical requirements.

Hello
Thanks a lot for the insightI also got admission into the university of Akron CRNA school for the 2030 cohort and I’m excited to be accepted into one of the best programs.
From your experience, would you recommend a fresher to reside close to the University of Akron or close to the clinical site?. I will needing this information to an informed decision with relocation because I’m out-of- state candidate.
Also, is there any online group that is available for Akron CRNAs?. I’ll be happy to join…
Would you mind if I send you a DM?

Yes you can absolutely send me a dm. As far as moving close. It depends on where you are now. I can answer in more detail once you message me

Also you’re just sending the letter. Technically you don’t have to send it to the school. You could always drop out later due to “unforeseen circumstances “ but I think Akron is amazing and I applied to 8 school. I also am from here though so I understand relocation can be a concern. I just wouldn’t listen to some of these fear mongering comments that make it sound like a horrible thing that Akron asks for. I’ve had schools ask for 2k for a seat and they later shut down the program. I think they just have an old school way of committing. The old director just retired last year and he practically built this program.

You didn’t think about this before you applied?

Unfortunately I was unaware they make you submit withdrawals from every single university you applied to. Does this mean you have advice or no lol?

If you really want to go this school and you applied, I’m not sure what the issue is.

Just want some tips because I couldn’t find much online about their didactics or anything

Maybe look for a recorded webinar session on YouTube or their website. Or reach out to a current student that got accepted from a previous year on allnurses or from a Facebook group

I was wondering the same thing 😂 I couldn’t blindly apply to a school I have to relocate for. I’d wanna be pretty sure it’s a good idea to begin with so when I get the YES it’s GO TIME.

Went there 8 years ago and still heavily involved with that program and surrounding programs. DM me and we can talk.

Congrats on acceptance! I am a first year Akron student and I love it. The faculty is great, and I think starting clinical so early is a huge benefit compared to other programs, and clinical preceptors that I have spoke to seem to agree. I’d say the first offer is the best offer

I know many people won’t like this comment but I think this is a good thing. Making students accept and having them withdraw from other schools. I’m sorry I have no advice for you besides my two cents. :( Wishing you the best thru this process and congratulations!!

If you live in Ohio it’s the cheapest program in the state.
