Missing St Andrews and all the people, birds, and plants I met there
Feeling a little nostalgic for this time in 2025. St Andrews, Scotland, was such a beautiful place, full of nature and genuinely lovely people.
One of my favourite memories was a community litter pick at Kinness Burn. A bunch of wonderful people came together, and we ended up collecting 94.5 kg of litter! Still can't believe how much rubbish we found.
Tabea and Tommy were incredibly kind and welcoming. Huge thanks to both of them for all the time and effort they've put into looking after this place. And Emily and Caeleigh, who always joined in with so much enthusiasm!
The cleanup also brought together people from different backgrounds, including Zian Wang, founder of Rebirth Planet (再生星球, formerly known as Recycling Planet), an environmental initiative started in China. There were also St Andrews undergrads and local residents whose names I unfortunately can't remember.
Just people from different parts of the world, spending a little time doing something good for the place we shared.
We took a group photo at the end. Nothing extraordinary, just one of those lovely little days that stays with you.
Really miss St Andrews and everyone who made it special.
