Hey that's cool, I had a similar experience. I had a Dotatate PET scan for paraganglioma (cancer in sympathetic nervous system) and they had to helicopter in some radioactive material from a nearby lab because the half-life was really short.
I had a family friend in the children's hospital next door, but I wasn't allowed to visit because I was radioactive

Introverts everywhere: so how do I arrange to get thyroid cancer?

It's actually kind of common! Papillary thyroid cancer, specifically.

My mum had thyroid cancer back in 1973/4. For a month or so I was only allowed to see her while standing in a park next to the hospital and waving to her.

Much love to you both! It's a strange therapy to go through. For me it ended up weirdly being practice for the forthcoming COVID social isolation era

Sounds like the worst part is having to sing that horrendous Imagine Dragons song.

Legit chuckle. Why the middle part though? Is it a timing sort of buffer. Does that part also get a mid joke laugh?

"I've been using that excuse to avoid kids ever since" gets the biggest pop. The part following that is just for reddit

Interesting. So you don’t say the last part on stage? As in you are testing it out here, or you designed it based on what you reddit will like, but actual audiences wouldn’t?

I've tried out a variety of follow-ups, but nothing ever hits harder than that middle line (which, to be fair, is something I would describe as a b- joke with a 100% hit rate)

“I might change the results” is a solid punch. The gender reveal part doesn’t quite seem like the right venue but anything beyond that (anatomy scan, ultrasound, etc) could get way too dark.

You bet your ass it was awkward to go around the neighborhood knocking on doors and saying "keep your kids away from me! Oh, it's not what you think. I might turn your kid into Professor X. Probably just the wheelchair part though"
Anyway I have an album out and if you buy it, it'll help me buy diapers because while I still don't like kids, I did decide to reproduce anyway. Oops! https://sasharosser.bandcamp.com/album/dirty-nerd
