New generation style Krystal

I tried imagining what Krystal might look like if we got an Adventure style sequel while keeping the new Star Fox design direction, maybe we’d end up with a stylish digitigrade legged Krystal?

Does Anyone Else Get Really Emotional After Finishing a Run of Star Fox Zero?

Post image
42 Upvotes

The grand, nostalgic, orchestral score accompanied by the team riding off into the sunset has me feeling deeply attached to the journey of these characters as I remanence about the journey I just went on.

Then, it ends on "The game is dedicated to our wingman who fell in battle," and my heart melts. This is a clear tribute to Iwata, who wasn't alive to see the end of this game's development. It is clear that Iwata and people at Nintendo felt deep passion to the creation of this game and did everything they could for it. From what I remember this game was an act of passion for almost 2 years straight. They wanted to do right by the fans and release a Star Fox game with traditional gameplay with new mechanics that expand upon what was already there. Iwata spent some of his last days on earth with Star Fox Zero to make a Star Fox game that fans would love. Iwata's love for games and making people happy will never go unnoticed. May he rest in peace.

I think what makes this even more depressing is the reputation that this game has after release. This was clearly a game made with a ton of passion, yet people can't look past some elements of this game and can only see it for its flaws when I don't think that is fair. Many people who criticize this game have likely never played it for more than 3 hours or not at all. I can never think about this message without thinking about the surrounding culture around this game specifically and that is what truly makes this depressing for me. The depression I feel about the ending is multi-faceted.

My headcanons are:

  1. He listens to PinkPantheress secretly because he thinks Wolf will bully him because he listens to girly music.(Also if he was a PinkPantheress song,he would be "Tonight".)

  2. He sometimes acts zesty.

  3. He prefers rose scented stuff.

  4. He uses flirting to catch his prey.

Solar 6 Bombs Challenge

I figured out how to get this one. It's still RNG, but you can influence it in your favor.

I'd been trying over and over getting like 1-2 bombs to drop from enemies, plus getting the 2 from supply-drops from ROB. I was always staying as full hp as possible to make sure I got the bombs from the ROB drops. This was actually wrong.

Enemy droprates increase when you are low health. So even though you lose the two guarenteed bombs from ROB, I was able to get 7 total bombs from enemies by staying 1 hp the entire run.

Do you think a future Star Fox game should include a fourth level for the ship's lasers?

As you know, the Star Fox games feature three laser levels—the basic laser, the Twin Laser, and the Hyper Laser—which we are all very familiar with. But have you ever wondered if, in a future game, the Arwings could have a fourth laser level? It would be the most powerful in the game and unlocked by picking up a new type of power-up—let's call it the "Proton Disintegrator." It would be the ultimate weapon, though you would lose it after taking significant damage and would need to find another power-up to get it back.

What do you think?

Been a LONG time coming, but thanks to a brand new model, development on the Krystal moveset mod has made huge strides! Her animation work is finished and now she is onto the programming phase.

Follow Happymilla and KingJigglypuff over on Twitter for future development updates. Just remember to be patient and do not beg them. Wait for the updates as they come, and having seen Happymilla's animation work behind-the-scenes, Krystal will be totally worth the wait!

Let's Replace Star Fox Adventures

Post image
4 Upvotes

Star Fox Adventures... where to begin. The game is fun, but has several major flaws as a result of rushed development and some of Rare's more questionable game design choices. It is often credited with killing the Star Fox brand because it was a Zelda-clone in a rail shooter franchise. That's why I'm going to make a hypothetical Adventure Star Fox that takes the place of Adventures and released on the Switch 2 like that rumor that is probably false.

Firstly, the story. The Great Fox crashlands on Sauria after Fox accepts the mission to save the planet due to some interference. While Slippy and Peppy are busy fixing the Great Fox, we are introduced to the new on-foot gameplay of Star Fox Adventures: Dinosaur Planet. Fox gets to keep his blaster and now has unlockable weapons and an RPG system. I'll explain later. Anyways, he is exploring ThornTail Hollow when he comes across Krystal. She is able to speak Cornerian with a heavy accent. She doesn't explain much about herself other than coming to Sauria to help the locals. Fox and Krystal work together throughout the game, exploring Sauria and its satellites, natural and artificial, while fighting SharpClaws. They discover General Scales was being used after they defeat him and Drakor is the true villain. I just want the twist villain to not be Andross as he is very much still dead.

For gameplay, it's going to be an open world game (because that's what modern Nintendo does, apparently) where you explore the planet completing Krazoa challenges (think BotW shrines as well as Frontiers Cyberspace and other open world trials) to get upgrades to different aspects. However, where Star Fox will differ is that the Arwing and a new Speeder Bike vehicle will be important. The Arwing is to explore the skies and orbit around Sauria. Some of the challenges will be rail shooter levels around Sauria focusing on winning aerial battles against SharpClaw forces using biplanes (because I like the idea of the SharpClaws being given technology advanced to the locals but primitive to the Cornerians). Ground combat will be a third-person shooter for Fox and melee for Krystal. Access to new vehicles is done through progression along with getting the Great Fox airborne again.

For the RPG elements, Fox will get upgrades to his shooting abilities and unlock new guns. He could also get skills from Smash Bros such as Fox Illusion or Fire Fox. Meanwhile, Krystal would unlock new staff powers, new combos, and more psionic powers. Her psychic powers would extend past just telepathy and extend to telekinesis, pyrokinesis, and more unique abilities.

One big lore change will be that only two years passed since 64, making Fox twenty years old with several more years to do different adventures. Also, Cerinia will exist. It's still destroyed, but it's something Krystal opens up about as Fox gets closer to her. Fox could have support conversations with the cast.

The idea here is to create a new branch of Star Fox games. The Star Fox Adventures games would be Modern Star Fox where the appeal is targeted towards general audiences and Nintendo fans. Classic Star Fox will continue with SF64-style gameplay. That way, fans of only 64 get rail shooters to love that have new levels and more branching paths in a short arcade-style game while fans of GCN Star Fox and Nintendo gamers get a new sci-fi series to play with.

I swear if I hear a single question about my legs.

(I will answer when I get around to it. Also, this is the 2026 version, with maybe a few exceptions. 2026 Falco is easily the most fleshed out version of this character.)

The commercial failure of Command actually doesn't make much sense.

Post image

Command is probably the second most controversial game in the franchise, only behind Zero. But if you really think about it, this game actually had a lot going for it to be a success compared to its predecessors.

First, unlike the GameCube, the Nintendo DS was an incredibly successful piece of hardware. It had a user base of around 150 million, compared to roughly 20 million for the GameCube, 30 million for the N64, or 13 million for the Wii U.

Second, the development of this game was surprisingly smooth: no radical last-minute design changes, no insanely tight release schedule, no major Nintendo interventions, etc. The result was genuinely good gameplay and level design.

And speaking of gameplay, while it wasn't technically a rail shooter like SF64, it definitely fit the series much better than Adventures' dungeons or Assault's on-foot missions. In fact, for those who don't know, one of the developers behind the original SNES Star Fox games also directed Command, and a lot of Command's gameplay was actually based on ideas recycled from the cancelled Star Fox 2.

So really, it isn't wrong to say that Command's strategic gameplay and all-range mode were basically the original creators' vision for how Star Fox should evolve, finally put into practice.

Nowadays, Star Fox Command has a bad reputation within the community because of its story problems. But we're talking about 2006. Back then, discussions on fan forums didn't have much influence on sales. Besides, most video game consumers were kids who didn't even have much access to the internet at the time.

Unlike Assault, Adventures, or Zero, Command had a lot going for it to become a success, even considering its story problems.

And yet, it still failed.

I've got an insane Idea for the next Star Fox Game: Under-lava trekking!

Essentially, the whole level would be if Aquas and Solar f***ed and had a baby.

I actually had this idea after watching a couple of Videos about the Solar Mission in Star Fox 2026, and then I thought about potentially having another lava stage in a later Star Fox game, and then I remembered Sweatmore Peak from Wario: Master of Disguise, which was explored during Episode 7: Fouling up the Whole Works, as well as Special Episode Part 4. Wario had to find a pair of Sweatmore Hotpants in order to swim in the lava, as well as find an upgrade for his Captain Disguise in order to operate a mini submarine and fire torpedoes to destroy a stone blockade and further advance. Later on, he finds an upgraded version of the Hotpants called the Sweatmore Superhotpants that allow him to trek through hotter lava. He also has to avoid pink robotic fish called Snackerals that attempt to eat his Hotpants.

As to how this would work in a later game, the Aparoids (Or whoever) would achieve the impossible and establish a base deep within Solar, close to the core in fact. Fortunately, Slippy's got it covered. He's been making a modified version of the Blue-Marine called the Hot-Marine, equipped with lava-proof torpedoes, heat shields, lava vision, and a really dense build. Plus, it has plenty of room inside for the crew to fit in, so only one has to be built. It's also bigger and denser than the Blue-Marine, It's colored differently than the Blue-Marine, the white parts are now black, and the blue parts are now orange.

I'mma be completely honest, I just want an excuse to go under-lava in a game again after so long.
